About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Technician / Accountant to join our team in Spain. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting and tax requirements.
This position is suitable for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working with numbers, has strong attention to detail, and can work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and process daily accounting transactions.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and process invoices, payments and expense reports.
- Reconcile bank accounts and accounting records.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports.
- Monitor outstanding payments and follow up on receivables.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting documentation.
- Assist with VAT and other tax-related reporting.
- Support payroll accounting and expense management when required.
- Communicate with suppliers, customers, banks and external accountants.
- Assist with audits and provide requested financial documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and Spanish regulations.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Degree, diploma or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- English proficiency is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Spanish accounting and VAT regulations.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Sage or similar.
- Experience preparing monthly financial reports.
- Previous experience working with international companies.
- Knowledge of payroll accounting.
- Professional accounting or finance certification.
