Position Overview:
We are seeking a Product Owner (PO) to lead backlog ownership for a dedicated Agile development team within a large-scale international program involving approximately 50 contributors across multiple countries.
The program focuses on building a multi-service platform deployed at remote sites, together with the back-office architecture and tools required to build, operate, and monitor these platforms.
The Product Owner will work closely with a geographically distributed development team responsible for delivering the local user interface and associated back-end services supporting Network, Security, and Monitoring capabilities. Success in this role requires the ability to foster effective collaboration, facilitate Agile ceremonies, and maintain alignment across teams working remotely and across multiple time zones.
Working within a SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) environment, the Product Owner plays a key role in translating product strategy into a well-defined and prioritized backlog, ensuring that business priorities are effectively communicated and implemented. The PO collaborates closely with Product Management, System Architects, stakeholders, and engineering teams to maximize value delivery and support Program Increment (PI) objectives.
The Product Owner reports to the Program Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Backlog Ownership & Prioritization
- Own and manage the team backlog, ensuring it is clear, consistent, and aligned with the product vision
- Prioritize backlog items based on business value, stakeholder input, and technical constraints
- Ensure user stories are well-defined, refined, and ready for development (Definition of Ready)
- Maintain backlog quality (estimation, dependencies, acceptance criteria, and continuous refinement)
PI Planning & Agile Execution
- Prepare and actively contribute to Program Increment (PI) Planning
- Facilitate backlog refinement sessions with the team and stakeholders
- Align backlog priorities with PI objectives and team commitments
- Support the multi-cultural team during execution by clarifying requirements and validating outcomes
Stakeholder & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Product Manager to translate product vision into execution-ready backlog items
- Collaborate with other Product Owners to manage inter-team dependencies
- Engage stakeholders to gather, challenge, and refine requirements
Team Support & Delivery Focus
- Act as the primary functional point of contact for the development team
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives)
- Validate delivered features against acceptance criteria and business expectations
- Ensure alignment between technical implementation and business needs
Tools & Environment:

Jira – backlog management, sprint tracking, and reporting
- Confluence – documentation and knowledge sharing
- GitLab – code repository, CI/CD, and development collaboration
Required Skills & Experience

10 years of experience, with at least 3 years as Product Owner
Core Competencies

Proven experience as a Product Owner (or equivalent role) in Agile environments
- Strong understanding of the SAFe framework, especially PI Planning
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize complex backlogs
Technical Skills
- Solid technical background in software development and networking
- Ability to understand system architecture, constraints, and trade-offs
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, risks, and best practices
- Experience managing the lifecycle of distributed software products (requirements, CI/CD, testing, delivery)
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven experience working with distributed, multicultural Agile teams
- Strong facilitation and collaboration abilities
- Analytical, structured mindset with strong attention to detail
- Proactive, solution-oriented approach
Languages

Fluent in English (spoken and written) to communicate efficiently with team’s members and all project’s stakeholders
