We’re looking for a Chief Accountant to strengthen our finance organization in Spain and take ownership of the accounting, statutory and tax compliance of our local legal entity. Reporting to the Country Controller, you will maintain a robust accounting framework under both local (Spanish GAAP) and US-GAAP, manage regular tax obligations — including VAT and Corporate Income Tax (CIT) — and work closely with our Global Shared Services Center (SSC) teams to ensure accurate, timely and compliant reporting.
This is a hybrid role based in Madrid, ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, international environment. Join EPAM and play a key role in our finance function in Spain!
Responsibilities
-
Maintain an effective accounting framework and related internal controls under both Local (Spanish GAAP) and US-GAAP, leveraging SAP and the EPAM Global Shared Services Center (SSC) teams
- Review and analyze monthly results during each closing to ensure the accuracy of the reported Trial Balance, in coordination with the Country Controller
- Perform monthly account reconciliations in line with corporate policy and SOX requirements
- Manage regular tax compliance for the entity — in particular VAT and Corporate Income Tax (CIT) — preparing and reviewing periodic and annual filings and ensuring timely, accurate submission to the authorities
- Monitor changes in local tax and accounting legislation and assess the impact on the entity’s processes
- Support the Country Controller in periodic Statutory-to-US-GAAP reconciliations and bridges for internal purposes
- Coordinate the statutory audit process, ensuring quality information is available to auditors and reconciles with the financial statements
- Respond to tax authority inquiries and support tax audits in coordination with the Country Controller and the EU Tax Director
- Investigate accounting, control and finance issues, proactively driving resolution with relevant stakeholders
- Support local operations, M&A integration activities and other ad-hoc finance matters as required

- Proven ability to manage regular tax compliance, in particular VAT and Corporate Income Tax (CIT)
- Strong, hands-on experience with SAP (a must), plus ERP and MS Office
- Solid understanding of Taxation and Transfer Pricing principles
