What we look for?
We are looking for an experienced Java Lead Software Engineeer to join our team and work on exciting projects for one of our clients in the banking sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Ownership & Support
- Act as the technical owner for Credit Risk applications and services.
- Ensure systems remain stable, secure, resilient, and available to support business operations.
- Provide Level 3 production support for incidents, problems, and service requests.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues within agreed service levels.
- Work closely with infrastructure, support, and business teams to minimise service disruption.
BAU Delivery & Enhancements
- Design, develop, test, and implement application enhancements and defect fixes.
- Support the delivery of regulatory, compliance, and business-mandated changes.
- Maintain and improve existing applications while managing technical debt.
- Ensure all changes follow the Bank's change management and release processes.
- Participate in production releases and post-release validation activities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to developers and support colleagues.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
- Promote best practices in software design, testing, security, and maintainability.
- Support knowledge sharing and documentation across the team.
Mandatory requirements:
- 5+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PERFORMING TECH LEAD DUTIES
- Strong full stack back-end experience in Java 21
- Familiar with a wide range of technologies including Java, Apache Maven, NodeJS, as well as Relational databases
- Proven track record in writing unit tests
- Proficient understanding of APIs best practices and modular object-orientated design and development
- Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices
- Experience in Agile processes and CI/CD pipelines, DevOPS principles and practices
- Experience in design and developing enterprise-level complex applications
- Adherence to best practices for security, design, and maintenance
- Ability to learn fast and calmly under pressure
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills and able to manage stakeholders at all levels
- Able to work alone or in a team contributing to a collective target
- Experience in IT system design and solutioning
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Required English level: C1
Nice to have:
- Experience supporting Credit Risk, Lending, or Financial Services applications.
- Knowledge of Credit Risk integrations and data processing workflows.
- Exposure to ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability tools.
- Experience working with third-party vendor applications and integrations.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and modernisation initiatives.
- Experience contributing to solution design and technical architecture discussions.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements within Banking.
- Previous experience mentoring developers or acting as a technical lead.
