This role can be based in Milan, Madrid, Barcelona.
Last Mile S&OP sits at the heart of Amazon's European operations: our forecasts and plans decide how millions of packages flow to every delivery station across Europe, and everything downstream — labour, transportation, delivery speed and cost — is built on the plan we set. Get it right and the whole network runs efficiently; that's the impact this team owns.
In this senior role you'll own a major part of that forecasting process — a broad set of countries or the core forecasting parameters behind the plan — setting the methodology, justifying the plan to senior leadership, and deep-diving the misses. Alongside the plan, you'll lead the projects that make it better: automating manual work, aligning the end-to-end process across teams, and raising the bar for how the whole team forecasts.
- Own a broad forecasting scope end to end and set the methodology others follow
- Report and defend the plan with senior leadership, and lead root-cause deep-dives when actuals miss
- Own a critical part of the weekly planning cadence, with direct, measurable impact across the European network
- Lead projects that improve the process — automation, end-to-end alignment and standardization — and mentor analysts on the team
Key job responsibilities
Owning the forecast (the core of the role)
- Own the forecast for a broad scope — a group of countries or the core forecasting parameters — and be accountable for its accuracy end to end.
- Own a critical part of the team's weekly planning cadence: take in the latest demand signals, produce and the plan, and manage ambiguity and competing priorities.
- Report the plan to senior leadership, justify the assumptions and trade-offs, and be the recognised point of contact for your scope across the organisation.
- Lead root-cause deep-dives on forecast misses, quantify the impact, and drive corrective actions across teams.
- Mentor and develop more junior analysts.
Leading projects
- Lead automation projects that remove manual effort from the planning cycle and make the plan faster, more reliable and more optimized towards the organizational goals.
- Drive end-to-end alignment with operations, transportation and upstream planning teams so the full plan comes together consistently.
- Lead process-improvement and standardisation initiatives — redesign a forecasting method, close a structural accuracy gap, or make a process repeatable across countries — and quantify the business impact.
- Build and scale forecasting tools and models, and drive their adoption across the team. Work hands-on with data and code (Python, SQL, AWS) to build models, automation and analysis that support the plan.
A day in the life
You own the plan and the methodology for a broad scope, so your day mixes deep analysis with senior stakeholder leadership. You run your part of the weekly cadence and, when actuals miss, you lead the root-cause deep-dive, quantify the impact, and align partners on the fix. You present and defend your plan to senior leadership, and you spend time moving a project forward — an automation, an end-to-end alignment with upstream teams, or a process redesign that raises accuracy across countries. You review the work of an analyst you're mentoring. Your decisions shape network speed, cost and accuracy across Europe.
