Sateliot is a Barcelona-based satellite company with one goal: connect everything, everywhere. Founded in 2018, we've built the first satellite constellation that lets standard commercial devices communicate directly from space. Our technology bridges the gaps that terrestrial networks will never reach, bringing affordable and secure connectivity to industries, governments, and communities across the planet.

Sateliot operates a 5G NTN satellite network that delivers standard-based NB-IoT connectivity through mobile network operators, extending their coverage to anywhere on the planet without special hardware. We are scaling from an initial constellation towards service at volume, and that scale changes what planning means for us.
Service and Mission Planning is the capability at the centre of it: determining when and how much service is delivered, by area and by country, against the capacity available — and planning the satellite and ground infrastructure that makes that service physically possible.
We are looking for a senior engineer to establish that capability and to become the person at Sateliot who understands it best. This is a hands-on role with a discovery-first approach: the boundaries of the system take shape through the work itself, so you will prototype, validate against real operational constraints, and rebuild what does not hold. You will write code, work directly with the operations specialists who hold the domain knowledge, and lead the development effort that grows around the results. The engineer who builds this becomes a technical reference for mission planning systems and service planning optimisation.
Determine what the system needs to be. Work with domain experts to draw out real operational constraints, and translate them into concrete, validated technical models.
Build and lead the development. Design and implement the planning system as a key technical lead, setting the direction and scope. You will initiate the work, with the potential to grow the squad as the system and roadmap evolve, maintaining a focus on short iterations, demonstration, and continuous, usable increments.
Solve arbitration. Service demand and infrastructure availability must be reconciled continuously. Making those constraints explicit, auditable and fast to evaluate is a core technical problem.
Work with the functions that define value. Network operations, as the user of the planning capability and owner of service KPIs and quality of service; satellite operations, as owner of satellite integrity and the platform constraints; and service engineering, as technical authority on network behaviour and 3GPP NTN concepts of operation.
Comfortable working iteratively providing technical leadership.
Seven or more years in senior software engineering, with a proven record of designing and deploying resilient production systems.
Deep proficiency in at least one backend language — Python, Go, Java, C++ or similar.
Significant experience with scheduling, planning, constraint-based optimisation or comparably complex systems.
A record of taking technical responsibility for a system from early concept through to production, including the prioritisation judgements that requires and the willingness to revisit them as understanding improves.
Ability to distill complex requirements from domain experts who are not software engineers.
Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English.
Bonus if you have
Background in satellite operations, mission planning, ground segment or aerospace software.
Telecommunications or mobile network background, particularly 3GPP NTN, radio resource management, beam and channel allocation, or link planning.
Distributed systems, event-driven architecture and cloud.
Simulation, digital twin or optimisation-solver experience.
Experience introducing a first-of-its-kind system into a live operational environment through staged delivery.
We lead with humility, move fast, and take ownership. We collaborate without ego and measure ourselves by real impact, not titles or hierarchy. We hire people who already live these values.
Real impact on one of Europe’s most ambitious space projects.
Growth: we cover 50% of courses or master’s degrees (up to 5% of your salary), plus Spanish and Catalan classes.
Health & balance: 50% on private health insurance and Urban Sports Club, a flexible schedule, and hybrid work, we focus on results, not hours.
Flexible Compensation: flexible compensation through Cobee (meal, transport, kindergarten).
A truly global team: 20+ nationalities building something genuinely new - and genuinely nice to work with. Great vibes, real teamwork.
A real welcome: a dedicated buddy from day one.
Life outside work: we organize leisure and sports activities both during and outside working hours - because great teams connect beyond the screen.
Catering: if you don't have time to cook, we partner with a catering company so a freshmeal is sorted, no need to think about it.
Parking: on-site parking at the office, with Sateliot covering 50% of the cost - plus free bike parking if you prefer to pedal in.
