Main function and scope:
We are looking for a Hardware Test Engineer to support the development, validation, and qualification of advanced electronic systems for aerospace and defense applications. The role will focus on the design, implementation, and execution of test setups for avionics systems, electronic units, and integrated circuits, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with demanding mission requirements.
Core functions:
Design, develop, and maintain hardware test setups for integrated circuits, avionics equipment, and electronic systems.
Define test strategies, test plans, procedures, and validation campaigns for aerospace and defense hardware.
Perform electrical characterization, functional testing, environmental testing, and reliability testing of electronic components and systems.
Develop and integrate automated test benches using laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and data acquisition systems.
Perform testing of integrated circuits, mixed-signal devices, digital electronics, power electronics, and avionics interfaces.
Analyze test results, identify root causes of failures, and work with design and systems teams to implement corrective actions.
Prepare technical documentation, test reports, verification evidence, and qualification data packages.
Support compliance with aerospace and defense standards, customer requirements, and internal quality processes.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hardware design, systems engineering, software, firmware, quality, and project management.
Required experience and candidate profile:
Degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
More than 3 years of experience in the responsibilities described above
EU work authorization required
Technical Requirements:
Training / specific knowledge required in:
- Professional experience in hardware testing, electronic validation, or test engineering.
- Hands-on experience developing test setups for integrated circuit testing and/or avionics equipment testing.
- Strong knowledge of electronic measurement techniques and laboratory instrumentation.
- Experience with test automation using tools or languages such as Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, datasheets, interface control documents, and technical specifications.
- Experience debugging electronic hardware at board, unit, or component level.
- Good analytical skills and ability to produce clear technical documentation.
- Ability to work in a regulated, high-reliability engineering environment.
Nice-to-have training / specific knowledge:
- Experience performing radiation testing of electronic components, including TID, SEE, SEL, SEU, or displacement damage testing.
- Knowledge of component qualification processes for space, aerospace, or defense applications.
- Familiarity with ECSS, NASA, ESA, MIL-STD, or DO-254/DO-160 standards.
- Experience preparing radiation test plans, test reports, and qualification documentation.
- Experience with space-grade or high-reliability components, COTS component evaluation, or up-screening processes.
- Knowledge of avionics communication interfaces such as SpaceWire, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, or high-speed digital interfaces.
- Experience with FPGA, ASIC, mixed-signal IC, or power device testing.
- Experience working in cleanroom, environmental test, EMC, vibration, thermal vacuum, or radiation facilities.
