We're looking for a brilliant mind with a warm soul that can help us on our journey.
We're Camping, a small-but-mighty brand storytelling & video agency based in Barcelona, helping B2B tech companies transform from 'boring' to heartfelt through brand & video storytelling.
We treat video as a strategic asset, and we build campaigns that drive real pipeline. As we grow, we're looking for a Creative Director to join our creative team, take ownership of projects end to end and help us raise the bar on everything we put out.
Have we mentioned we're trialing a 4-day workweek?
We're looking for a Creative Director who can build and hold a single creative vision across a whole project and see it through to a creative success.
Our work is a mix of live action, motion design and AI. That means on any given project you might be directing a shoot yourself, hiring and steering an external director or filmmaker, or briefing and reviewing a motion and design team. What stays constant is that you're the person answering the question "is this serving the idea?" from the first concept conversation through to final delivery.
You'll report to Emily, our Head of Creative, and work alongside her. This isn't an art direction role, but you'll be directing art direction. It isn't a motion design role, but you will be reviewing design. We hope your involvement and taste will help raise the bar of our projects and make them successful.
- Own the creative vision on your projects. From the first brief through concept, treatment, production and final delivery. You're the single creative owner, and the work is consistent because you're across it.
- Direct across formats. Live action, motion design and AI-led production. Sometimes you direct, sometimes you brief and oversee a specialist director or filmmaker, sometimes you're steering designers and motion designers. You know which of those a project needs.
- Build the idea, not just review it. You're hands-on at the concept and development stage: shaping the big idea, writing or co-writing treatments, running brainstorms, finding the angle that makes a project worth watching.
- Direct design and motion. You'll brief our design and motion design collaborators, review their work with real specificity, and hold the quality bar. You don't need to be a designer, but you need enough craft judgment that your feedback is precise and gets applied.
- Manage the people on your projects. Depending on the project, that means line-managing internal creatives, running freelancers and external partners, or both. You'll define the handovers so nothing falls between people.
- Present and defend the work to clients. You'll pitch concepts, run creative reviews and workshops, and hold the line on ideas you believe in while staying genuinely open to the client's business reality.
- Keep the standard consistent across the agency. Client work comes first, but you'll also bring the same eye to Camping's own brand and content, our Best Practices show, and our Campfire program.
- 5 to 8 years in creative direction roles, with real experience directing projects end to end. You may be a Creative Director already, or a senior creative ready to step up. Purely art direction, writing without filmmaking, or other adjacent fields (i.e. editing, production) aren't the right fit here.
- A portfolio showing work you directed, not just work you contributed to. We want to understand what you decided.
- Filmmaking and directing experience. You've directed work yourself, not only overseen it, and you know what happens on set and in post.
- Fluency in projects that lean heavily on design and motion, even though you're not a designer yourself. You can brief motion work, review it precisely, and tell the difference between a craft problem and a concept problem.
- Comfort in the tech and B2B world. You can get your head around a technical product and find the human story in it. You're familiar with what's being done in the tech space.
- Real exposure to AI-generated work. Ideally you've directed campaigns using AI production, but we're equally happy with someone who has pushed the tools hard on their own and has a sharp sense of what they can and can't do yet.
- Strong people and stakeholder management. Getting a creative vision to survive a long project with many hands is mostly a people skill, and this is the single most important thing we're hiring for.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting and defending concepts to clients.
- Native or proficient fluency in English. Spanish is a plus.
- Experience with B2B SaaS or tech clients.
- Hands-on curiosity about AI productivity and workflow tools and where they improve the work.
- A background in storytelling, comedy or design.
- Experience working with limited budgets and finding the idea that punches above its cost.
- Familiarity with how creative performs, and interest in the connection between the work and the results it drives.
- You can hold several projects at once without losing the thread on any of them, and you stay level when things get tight.
- You're comfortable making a call and being accountable for it.
- You give feedback that's specific and actionable, and you follow through to check it landed.
- You're direct with clients and with your team, and warm with both.
- You know the difference between defending an idea and being precious about it.
- You want to build something, not just staff a role. We're a small team and this position has real influence over where our creative goes.
We work a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday. Fridays off.
Barcelona-based and hybrid. We gather at the office to collaborate and expect more presence during your first months and around shoots and key client moments.
Flexible hours. We trust you to manage your schedule around project needs and team commitments.
Location: this position is based in Barcelona, Spain, and we're open to candidates looking to relocate here. In that case, we'd run the trial period remotely before you make the move. If you don't currently have the right to work in Spain, tell us in your application - we're open to sponsoring a visa for the right person.
