The Specification Sales Engineer is Carel’s technical and commercial reference point for key players in the commercial and industrial refrigeration market across Spain and Portugal. Reporting to the National Sales Manager, the primary objective is to ensure Carel solutions are specified in projects before purchasing decisions are made, generating qualified demand and strengthening the brand’s position in the Iberian market.
Key Responsibilities
Specification & Business Development
–Identify and visit engineering firms, consultancies, design studios and end-users to ensure Carel solutions are included in their technical specifications.

Accompany projects from the design phase through to commissioning.

Coordinate follow-up on generated opportunities through to deal closure.

Present Carel’s technical solutions (e.g. controllers, electronic expansion valves, supervision platforms) to installers, distributors and end-users.

Highlight the technical differentiators of Carel solutions, building a compelling case against competitors and tailoring the message to each customer’s needs.
Market Intelligence & Reporting

Monitor the project pipeline and report opportunities to the National Sales Manager Refrigeration.

Track competitive activity and relay market feedback to the product team.

Participate in trade fairs, technical seminars and industry events.
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Refrigeration Systems, or equivalent technical experience in the refrigeration sector.

Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration.

Previous experience in technical sales, specification, or technical support roles with manufacturers or distributors in the sector.

Strong communication and presentation skills with both technical and management audiences.

Results-oriented with the ability to manage your own agenda and territory autonomously.

Consultative mindset: active listening, needs identification and differentiated value proposition.

Collaborative approach with sales and technical support teams.

Spanish: native or bilingual.

English: upper-intermediate to advanced (B2/C1) – internal meetings with headquarters and technical documentation.
