We are seeking a Senior Architect – Major Transport & Infrastructure to join and strengthen our Architecture team in Spain while contributing to major international opportunities. This is a strategic growth position focused on the design and delivery of complex transport infrastructure projects, working alongside multidisciplinary teams and supporting the continued growth of Arup’s transport architecture capability. The role offers the opportunity to shape landmark infrastructure projects, mentor colleagues, engage directly with clients and deliver impactful design solutions from concept through construction
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced architect with a strong track record in the design and delivery of major transport and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will bring design leadership, technical excellence, stakeholder management skills and the ability to coordinate large multidisciplinary teams across all project stages.
As a Senior Architect at Arup, you will:
- Expand and strengthen Arup’s transport architecture capability in Spain.
- Increase our capacity to lead large, complex infrastructure programmes.
- Support existing and future opportunities in rail, metro, high-speed rail, transit-oriented developments and major mobility infrastructure.
- Enhance relationships with transport authorities, infrastructure operators and public-sector clients.
- Reinforce technical leadership and design excellence within multidisciplinary project teams.
Does this role inspire you?
We are looking for someone who will lead the design and technical delivery of complex infrastructure projects, providing architectural leadership throughout all project stages. The role will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring technical quality and supporting business development activities. Ideally, you’ll bring:
Degree in Architecture (Master's preferred), or equivalent professional experience and standing.- Chartered Architect or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Demonstrated experience delivering major transport, infrastructure or mobility projects, including in international contexts.
- Proven capability delivering complex multidisciplinary projects from concept design through construction.
- Experience engaging with clients, operators, authorities and contractors.
- Experience in transport infrastructure architecture, mobility facilities, passenger experience and user-centred design.
- Fluent Spanish and English (essential).
Bonus points if you have:
- Additional qualifications in transport infrastructure, urban design or project management are desirable.
- Fire and life safety integration.
- BIM-based project delivery and coordination.
- Systems-thinking approach to complex infrastructure environments.
- Accessibility and inclusive design.
- Construction detailing and technical development.
