Summary – basic function of the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Sustaining Engineer to join our Engineering team in Alcobendas, Madrid. This is a hybrid position, working from our Madrid site four days per week with the option to work from home on Fridays.
In this role, you will support the maintenance, improvement and reliability of our existing products. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will help ensure our products perform reliably, can be manufactured effectively and are supported by accurate technical documentation.
You will develop your knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulic products and product architecture, including assemblies, components and system interactions. You will also build practical troubleshooting skills by working with our Manufacturing, Quality and Test teams to investigate product and production issues.
As your knowledge and confidence grow, you will take on greater technical responsibility and progress towards engineering ownership of selected components, assemblies or product areas.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Support investigations into product issues and performance deviations.

Help implement corrective actions through design and documentation updates.

Participate in product verification and validation activities, including testing, analysis and reporting.

Contribute to continuous improvement projects for existing products.

Work with experienced engineers to understand product performance, reliability and manufacturability.

Develop your technical knowledge of Enerpac products, systems and engineering processes.
Design & CAD Responsibilities

Create and update 3D CAD models and 2D technical and manufacturing drawings.

Implement approved engineering changes within CAD models and drawings.
-
Support design updates resulting from product issues, supplier changes and manufacturing improvements.

Maintain consistency across assemblies, components, repair kits and associated drawings.

Check that drawings clearly and accurately communicate manufacturing requirements.
Problem Solving & Analysis

Assist with root-cause analysis of product and manufacturing issues.

Help evaluate potential design improvements and corrective actions.

Support troubleshooting activities with Manufacturing, Quality and Test teams.

Gather and review technical data, test results and observations.
-
Communicate findings and recommended next steps clearly to the wider Engineering team.
PDM & Documentation Control

Maintain CAD files and product data within the Product Data Management system.

Support accurate revision control and traceability of engineering changes.

Check technical documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Verify that released documentation reflects the current product configuration.

Help maintain organised and reliable engineering records.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Manufacturing teams to help resolve production issues.

Quality teams to support product and process investigations.

Test Lab colleagues to assist with validation and testing activities.

Engineering colleagues to develop and implement effective technical solutions.

Supply chain and supplier-facing teams when product or component changes are required.
Quality & Compliance

Learn and apply Enerpac engineering and technical drawing standards, including relevant ISO and ASME standards.

Review drawings, dimensions, tolerances and bills of materials for accuracy.

Support compliance with internal engineering processes and documentation requirements.

Contribute ideas that improve engineering documentation, product quality and team processes.
Skills and Competencies
-
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.

Knowledge of 3D CAD software; experience with PTC Creo would be beneficial.

Knowledge of 2D technical drafting using AutoCAD or similar software.

An understanding of PDM systems; experience with Windchill would be an advantage.

A basic understanding of GD&T and mechanical drawing standards.

An understanding of mechanical components and assemblies.

Professional working proficiency in both Spanish and English.

Good attention to detail and an organised approach to your work.

A structured and practical approach to solving problems.

Clear communication and collaboration skills.

An interest in learning from experienced colleagues and gradually taking on greater responsibility.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems or industrial products would be helpful, but it is not essential. We welcome applications from early-career engineers who can demonstrate relevant technical knowledge through their studies, placements, internships or initial professional experience.
