UFM (Unified Faubourg Mobility) is the Group's flagship digital transformation programme, designed to replace multiple legacy fleet and mobility systems with a unified platform serving six business units across Europe (France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom). By consolidating business processes, data and user experiences into a single ecosystem, UFM aims to accelerate innovation, improve operational efficiency and support the future growth of the Group.
The platform is developed through small cross-functional pods operating on a shared technology foundation, allowing teams to deliver business value quickly while maintaining consistency, scalability and high product quality across all markets.
You will lead the engineering of UFM, the platform that will replace five legacy systems serving approximately 400,000 contracts across six countries, within a deliberately lean, AI-native organisation. Rather than operating through traditional squads, you will work with developer / product builder pairs on a shared platform.
You will remain hands-on while progressively taking responsibility for scaling the organisation, from the founding team to a programme of approximately 30 people :
-
Deliver hands-on first (around 60% initially): architecture decisions, code, and the hard technical calls, alongside the platform pod
-
Design and grow the pod topology: pairing, seniority mix, module-family ownership, the platform/product pod split
-
Own engineering standards where most code is agent-generated: review gates, ADRs, testing strategy, CI/CD. The tools change; the bar does not drop
-
Shape the agentic engineering practice group-wide, including instrumenting the legacy estates with AI so productivity gains fund the pods
-
Arbitrate velocity against foundations, and present progress, risks and investment needs to executive stakeholders.
-
12+ years in software engineering, 4+ leading teams, and still writes code
-
Has scaled an engineering organisation — and is willing to keep this one small on purpose
-
AI-native conviction: has shipped with coding agents as part of the delivery team, not as a side experiment
-
Comfortable with legacy estates, ambiguity and multi-country enterprise reality
-
Fluent English; another European language is a plus.
