Job Description:
At Nextpower we are looking for a Commissioning Technician to provide comprehensive field technical support to our customers, with a focus on commissioning our products at the customers’ facilities, focusing on the southeastern countries of Europe.
As a commissioning technician at Nextpower you will verify, test and energize our single-axis tracker systems at utility-scale photovoltaic sites across the EMEA region. You will be the final quality gate before mechanical completion is converted into an operational, data-connected plant, ensuring every tracker row meets performance, safety and reliability standards.
The selected person will satisfactorily commission the assigned sites, as well as provide best-in-class support to our customers including remote assistance, troubleshooting, firmware updates, and training, among others.
The selected person has a customer-oriented mindset with several years of experience in a similar role and a proactive attitude to help Nextpower’s existing fleet and rapid expansion.
As part of the Nextpower team, your responsibilities will include:
- Perform detailed pre-commissioning inspections on tracker rows, drive systems, power supplies and cabling.
- Execute cold and hot commissioning, delivering periodic updates.
- Manage the commissioning process for customer acceptance.
- Providing comprehensive technical support to Nextpower's global customers.
- Diagnosing and correcting networking issues.
- Implementing tracker hardware and firmware retrofits in accordance with technical service bulletins, ensuring minimal disruption and full documentation of changes.
- Delivering training sessions for EPC/O&M personnel covering start-up, stow, fault recovery and routine maintenance.
- Preparing reports, service proposals, and procedure manuals.
- Advocating on the voice of the customer when collaborating with internal teams on product-related improvements.
- Dealing with different customers/projects at the same time.
- Delivering regular progress updates to management and customers, based on well-found recommendations supported by data, evidence, and sound judgment.
Skills required
- B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Equivalent) or related STEM field.
- Must be able to demonstrate customer care skills and be able to effectively communicate resolutions for customer concerns.
- Ability to interface and communicate with customers on a regular basis.
- 75% of travel required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- 5 five years of experience in a similar role.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather.
- Must be able to walk for most of the day while carrying tools.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of customer and technical support for Utility-scale and DG projects.
- Extensive experience with:
o Commissioning solar tracking systems.
o Various controls and network systems.
- Strong knowledge of PV technology and its applications.
- Other European languages, especially Spanish.
- Good understanding of Microsoft office.
- Power generation troubleshooting.
