The Institute
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.
In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role
We are looking for a candidate to help develop a new research line focused on protein design models that incorporate physics-based principles. The successful candidate will train, benchmark, and develop deep learning architectures. They will work in high-performance computing environments and apply expertise in statistical mechanics, molecular dynamics, and physics. The goal of this work is to move beyond purely data-driven paradigms by integrating chemical and physical priors. These approaches will improve our understanding of protein function and enable the design of new proteins with tailored properties and functions.
About the lab
We are the AI for protein design lab at the Centre for Genomic Regulation. It brings together experimental and computational researchers working on AI-driven protein engineering and design. The group combines computational modelling, deep unsupervised learning and experimental validation to understand and design protein functions.
