DigiQ (the Digitally Enhanced Quantum Technology Master) is a European initiative to enhance Quantum technology education in Europe. As Europe´s largest Quantum education project, DigiQ aims to help build the Quantum Industry through a Pan-European mobility program. A number of fellowships therefore exist to support outstanding DigiQ students to undertake a research stay (internship or master’s thesis project) at ICFO.

Selected students will participate in ICFO’s rich scientific life, benefit from the experience of ICFO researchers, cutting edge facilities, industrial projects, the institute’s stimulating and interdisciplinary environment, and receive high-level training as well as extensive admin and tech support.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be part of a DigiQ network or be committed to joining a DigiQ network at the next possible date.
Candidates must be enrolled in a master’s program at a DigiQ partner institution or Affiliated Partner institution for the full duration of the internship at ICFO.
Candidates should have a high working knowledge of English.
Selection of Fellows is based on merit and potential, measured in terms of academic records and personal achievements. Proactive attitudes, participation in community activities, and capacity for team-work are also taken into account.

CONDITIONS
The award covered by this program includes funding for up to 12 months.
The stay will have to be formalized by a training agreement between the student’s home university/institution and ICFO. Please note that any potential offer for a fellowship at ICFO is subject to the previous verification of viability of said training agreement.
If the applicants´ home institution is in Catalonia, the monthly stipend will be 300 euros per month gross.
If the applicants´ home institution is outside of Catalonia, the monthly stipend will be 600 euros per month gross. Eligible travel expenses to Catalonia are also covered (up to 300€).
Please note: These fellowships are compatible with Erasmus+ and CQA Student Mobility Fellowhips. The funding allocated may be adjusted for a student with additional funding secured.

1st step: Submit your application
To apply for a fellowship, suitable candidates are requested to submit the following documents (in English):
- A presentation/cover letter stating ICFO QST research group of interest (ICFO QST research groups can be found here), desired duration of the research stay including start and end dates. Please also write a short text describing your participation in the DigiQ program, and explaining why this research stay will benefit your career.
- A Curriculum Vitae, including contact details, in English.
- A scanned copy of the academic transcripts for the undergraduate degree and postgraduate (if applicable), in English.
- Name and contact details of one potential referee who we may contact, should it be necessary.
It is the candidate’s responsibility to make sure all required application material (see above) is complete before submitting the application.
In a first revision stage, applications will first be reviewed to assure that they meet the eligibility requirements and conditions and candidates will be notified accordingly.
Eligible applications will be evaluated and ranked by a Selection Committee appointed by ICFO’s Academic Affairs unit.
Top-ranked candidates will then pass to a matching stage, in which he/she will be invited to discuss their research interests and suitability for the project with the relevant ICFO Group Leader(s), as well as duration of the stay and other particular conditions. An interview, either in person or online, is a fundamental part of the procedure.
If the candidate and ICFO Group Leader(s) agree to a match to undertake a project, the candidate will receive an official fellowship offer from ICFO.
Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis, and fellowships allocated to outstanding candidates. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application no later than 2 months from the application submission date.
