Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior HR Generalist to support our growing HR team in Madrid. This role is ideal for an HR professional looking to develop expertise across employee relations, performance management, HR operations, and Workday administration.
A key focus of this position will be supporting managers and employees throughout the performance management process, including the coordination and administration of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), documentation management, progress tracking, and employee communications. The successful candidate will also support employee lifecycle activities, HR reporting, compliance initiatives, and employee engagement programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the HR Director in administering performance management processes across the employee lifecycle.
- Assist in drafting, tracking, and maintaining Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Monitor employee progress against agreed performance objectives and milestones.
- Coordinate performance review meetings, PIP check-ins, and follow-up discussions between managers and employees.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure performance records comply with company policies and local employment regulations.
- Support investigations, employee relations matters, and disciplinary documentation as required.
- Act as a trusted first point of contact for employee and manager HR-related queries.
- Support end-to-end employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, internal transfers, role changes, and offboarding.
- Process HR transactions within Workday, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with workflow approvals and employee record maintenance.
- Prepare employment-related documentation and correspondence.
- Ensure employee information is maintained accurately and confidentially.
- Maintain employee records within Workday.
- Support updates across relevant Workday modules including HCM, Time Tracking, and Recruiting.
- Assist employees and managers with Workday self-service queries and system navigation.
- Participate in HR process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
- Manage and respond to the HR shared inbox, ensuring timely resolution of employee requests.
- Prepare HR reports and dashboards relating to:
- Headcount
- Attrition and turnover
- Performance management activity
- Employee demographics
- Compliance metrics
- Support data analysis and reporting for leadership reviews and workforce planning.
- Draft and distribute HR communications regarding policies, legislative updates, organizational announcements, and employee programs.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, wellbeing activities, and internal HR events.
- Assist in promoting a positive employee experience and inclusive workplace culture.
- Support HR audits and compliance reviews.
- Maintain required employee files and documentation.
- Assist with policy administration and implementation.
- Ensure HR processes align with local labor regulations and internal governance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of HR experience in a generalist, HR operations, employee relations, or HR administration role.
- Experience supporting performance management processes is highly desirable.
- Experience with employee lifecycle administration and HR systems.
- Familiarity with Workday or the ability to learn quickly.
- Understanding of performance management frameworks and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
