From Q-tech, we are collaborating with a large European technology company, part of a leading international retail and distribution group, that is looking for a Data Engineer to join a highly innovative squad within the Marketing & Communication domain.
You'll work on one of the company's most strategic products: one of the largest customer loyalty apps in Europe, with over 130 million users, managing massive-scale customer and transactional data to power advanced segmentation, personalized campaigns and data-driven decisions across countries.
The role is a strong fit for engineers who enjoy scalability challenges and large-volume data architecture, with growing exposure to the company's Data Science and AI initiatives — the product already uses Generative AI for natural-language customer segmentation, with more AI-driven analytics planned.
This hire expands the team, adds delivery capacity, and enables further AI/Data Science innovation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable batch and real-time data pipelines.
- Build and optimize data solutions for very large volumes of customer and transaction data.
- Develop and maintain the Marketing Data Layer used by marketers across countries.
- Transform analytical data into operational datasets for segmentation and campaign execution.
- Ensure data quality, performance, governance and reliability.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Product Owners and business stakeholders; support other squads as needed.
- Contribute to AI-powered marketing products, advanced analytics, and ML solutions where relevant.
- Identify actionable insights from customer behavior and purchasing patterns.
Must have
- Strong experience as a Data Engineer with large-scale datasets.
- Advanced Python and SQL.
- Experience with Databricks and Airflow
- Big Data frameworks: Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes, Hive.
- Relational (e.g., SQL Server) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, ELK, Cassandra).
- Experience designing robust, scalable data pipelines; knowledge of modern data architectures and data operations.
- Agile experience; strong problem-solving mindset and autonomy.
- Fluent English (minimum B2).
Nice to have
- ML tools: Scikit-Learn, Pandas, Spark ML, MLflow.
- Data Science workflow knowledge; experience with AI-related initiatives.
- Retail/customer-centric business experience; marketing analytics, segmentation or CRM data experience.
- Experience with customer/transaction/behavioral data at scale.
- Infrastructure deployment / DevOps knowledge.
- .NET experience.
Compensation & benefits
- Salary: €56,000 – €61,000 base
