Sateliot is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Patent Engineer to join our intellectual property team. Working closely with our R&D engineers, you will identify patentable inventions, draft and prosecute patent applications, and contribute to the strategic management of our IP portfolio. Support inventors in the preparation and evaluation of invention disclosures, leading internal invention harvesting and review meetings.
Draft patent applications in collaboration with inventors and external counsel, translating complex technical concepts into strong, well-structured claims.
Conduct prior art, patentability, and freedom-to-operate (FTO) searches using relevant patent databases and tools.
Manage and monitor the prosecution of the patent portfolio, including designing the strategy and coordinating responses to office actions worldwide.
Track filing deadlines, maintenance fees, and procedural milestones, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the patent portfolio records.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
Detail-driven and well-organised, combining analytical thinking, precise technical writing, and the discipline to track deadlines and maintain accurate records.
Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., LLMs) as part of daily work to support research, analysis, and documentation tasks.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (R&D, legal, business).
Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
Bonus if you have
Previous experience in an IP department or patent law firm, in-house or as a trainee.
Basic knowledge of European, PCT, and international patent systems and procedures (EPO, WIPO, national offices).
Familiarity with patent search and analytics databases (e.g., Espacenet, Minesoft Origin).
Technical background in space systems, satellite communications, and/or mobile telecommunication networks (e.g., 3GPP 4G/5G, non-terrestrial networks).
