About the role
We are seeking a talented, innovative, passionate IT Platform Engineer within the Infra Engineering department, specialized in Kubernetes administration. Verisure has a big footprint in Cloud, both in AWS (EKS) and Azure (AKS), as well as on-premises environments running RKE2 on top of VMware, for core pieces of the IoT backend and business systems. This role will build, operate and standardize our Kubernetes platform, providing a service layer that abstracts infrastructure complexity and gives autonomy to development and technical teams. It will maintain constant communication with the Core Cloud team to ensure alignment with decisions made there and other areas in IT Ops, and will provide visibility and access to key stakeholders within Technology and, transversally, across functions/countries. Critical and strategic, the role is fundamental to Verisure by ensuring the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of our container platforms, driving automation and the required upskill and transformation in development teams.
Responsibilities
Platform design and implementation
Provide expert guidance on Kubernetes platform implementation and best practices, both on-premises (RKE2 over VMware) and in the cloud (EKS, AKS).
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project goals and specific requirements related to Kubernetes platforms and containerized workloads.
Collaborate in the design and administration of Kubernetes clusters leveraging expertise in RKE2 on VMware on-premises, AWS EKS and Azure AKS, with readiness to incorporate other platforms in the future.
Contribute to planning platform initiatives and roadmap items, outlining timelines and resource needs, and help ensure execution aligns with defined requirements, adjusting scope as necessary.
Identify, assess and proactively manage potential risks and scope changes.
Establish, implement, and ensure compliance with Kubernetes platform governance and security policies (RBAC, network policies, image scanning, hardening of nodes and clusters).
Communication, collaboration and resource management:
Ensure clear, consistent and proactive communication with all stakeholders.
Facilitate regular status meetings to maintain alignment and transparency on project status.
Monitor, allocate and optimise the use of resources to ensure project efficiency.
Evaluation and Documentation:
Conduct periodic assessments of project performance, identifying any deviations and risks.
Capture and document lessons learned and best practices to inform and improve future initiatives.
Kubernetes platform and enablers
Collaborate with Platform Tech Leads to define the target architecture for on-premises (RKE2/VMware) and cloud (EKS, AKS) Kubernetes clusters and their interconnectivity.
Promote automation (IaC/GitOps) and scalability of Kubernetes clusters while addressing regional operational requirements.
Actively participate in defining and executing the workload migration strategy from on-premises environments to AWS, contributing to the design of cloud-native architectures, deployment patterns and scalable operating models.
Contribute to the evolution of our observability platform, driving the adoption of OpenTelemetry as the standard for metrics, logs and traces instrumentation.
Platform governance, solutions and expertise
Provide expert knowledge and support to senior leadership on high-impact Kubernetes platform initiatives, including new container technologies, issues resolution and cost optimisation for large-scale clusters.
Partner with network and virtualization (VMware) architects to support enterprise-wide transformation program.
Transformation
Champion DevOps culture and drive continuous improvement in platform engineering methodologies and practices across IT Ops and DevOps teams.
Mentoring and guiding the Kubernetes/platform operations team members.
Candidate profile

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position or in technology-related system engineering fields, with solid hands-on experience administering Kubernetes clusters in production (Databases, Communications, Operating Systems, Cloud and Automations).
Fluent in English and Spanish.
Proven hands-on experience deploying, administering and troubleshooting on-premises Kubernetes clusters based on RKE2 running on VMware vSphere (node lifecycle, upgrades, etcd, CNI, storage classes), managed through Rancher (multi-cluster management, RBAC, catalog apps).
Solid experience operating managed Kubernetes services in the cloud, specifically Amazon EKS and Azure AKS (cluster provisioning, node pools, IAM/RBAC integration, upgrades).
Good knowledge of VMware virtualization (vSphere, vCenter) as the underlying infrastructure for on-premises clusters.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code and GitOps tooling (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, ArgoCD or Flux) to automate cluster provisioning and application delivery.
Experience with secrets management and vaulting solutions (e.g. CyberArk Conjur), including migrating and rotating secrets towards corporate-standard secret management platforms.
Availability to participate in the team's on-call rotation, providing support coverage for the platform outside business hours when required.
Knowledge of container networking and security (CNI plugins, Ingress controllers, service mesh, network policies) and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
Scripting skills (Bash, Python or Go) to build automation and internal tooling for the platform.
Working knowledge of agentic AI concepts and tooling (AI coding/ops agents, MCP-based integrations, LLM-driven automation) to explore and offer self-service capabilities that increase autonomy for development teams on the platform.
At least one relevant certification: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), VMware VCP-DCV, AWS Certified or Azure Administrator/Solutions Expert.
Working knowledge of project and delivery methodologies such as Scrum, Agile or Kanban applied to platform/product teams.
