Job Highlight
The ICT Officer – Solutions Architect and Developer will support and maintain existing IT products and contribute to the development and deployment of new tools as required by the client. The ICT Officer – Solutions Architect and Developer will also be responsible for developing documentation and ensuring overall application security.
The incumbent will be personnel of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Under the overall administrative supervision of UNOPS Senior Programme Manager or an assigned person, the main role of the ICT Officer – Solutions Architect and Developer is to work under the direct operational guidance of the partner in UNOG to deliver IT products to support UNOG operations.

The ICT Officer – Solutions Architect and Developer will be responsible for the following duties:

Systems Analysis Support
Contributes to reviewing clients’ requirements and helps translate them into new or updated application features, as appropriate.
Participates in assessing application system integrations and offers input on practical and efficient ways to address requirements.
Supports the design, development, and rollout of application solutions in collaboration with the team.
Engages with colleagues to explore and assess emerging technologies and related costs, and offers recommendations to strengthen existing or planned solutions.
Development and QA Support
Supports the preparation and periodic updating of specifications and user documentation, following established templates and formats.
Contributes to the development of data models, databases, and data warehouses, and helps integrate data from multiple sources; assists in the design and execution of ETL processes.
Participates in maintaining, updating, and improving existing user systems; helps troubleshoot issues and provides ongoing user and technical support, including performance monitoring and issue resolution.
Collaborates in deploying workflows and online services (e.g., Azure and Power Platform) to support applications deployment, where applicable.
Engages in unit, integration, and regression testing by applying defined business cases and testing scenarios; supports users during acceptance testing.
Documentation and Training Support
Contributes to preparing technical and user documentation; helps familiarize supporting staff or developers with assigned systems; supports identifying potential risks and collaborates on mitigation and recovery measures.
Participates in planning for system sustainability and redundancy; shares relevant knowledge and ensures smooth handover of information to designated staff.
Engages in user training activities and provides guidance to promote effective system use.

Required
An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) preferably in information technology, computer science, engineering, statistics, or in a field related to the post description OR
A first-level university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) with two (2) years of qualifying experience
Desired
IT certification by a recognized organization is desirable.

Required:
Relevant experience is defined as experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems or related areas.
Experience in developing and supporting applications using Microsoft tools (e.g. SharePoint, SharePoint Online, Power Platform, Azure, etc.).
Experience in high level programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, Javascript, etc.
Experience in technical writing.
Desirable:
Experience in Java, ASP.net, Python and API / microservices development.
Experience in building, maintaining, and deploying complex applications.
Experience in leading teams comprised of direct or cross-functional reports.
Knowledge of DevOps practices including continuous integration and continuous delivery.
Experience in using project management and issue tracking software (e.g. Jira, etc.).
Experience conducting code reviews and planning releases.
Previous experience working for an intergovernmental or regional organization.
