Open Digital Services is looking for a Cloud Architecture Engineer based out of Madrid, or remotely within Spain.
As a Cloud Architecture Engineer within the Data Management department, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, operating and evolving the AWS cloud infrastructure that supports the ODS Datalake and its cloud-based data ecosystem. You will be responsible for defining scalable, secure and maintainable cloud solutions while ensuring the reliability, availability and operational excellence of production environments.
You will work closely with Data Engineering, Security, Operations and Product teams to translate business and technical requirements into cloud-native solutions. This role combines cloud architecture, platform engineering and operational responsibilities, requiring strong knowledge of AWS services, automation, infrastructure as code and data platform technologies.
To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
Designing, implementing and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure supporting data platforms and business-critical workloads.
Defining cloud architecture patterns, standards and best practices for scalability, security, reliability and cost optimization.
Managing and supporting AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch and related cloud-native technologies.
Deploying and maintaining infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code principles and tools such as CloudFormation and AWS CDK.
Monitoring platform health, investigating incidents and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Managing access controls, permissions and security configurations following AWS best practices.
Collaborating with Data Engineering teams to support data pipelines, processing environments and production operations.
Supporting and evolving Data Lake environments, ensuring platform reliability, availability and performance.
Designing automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Identifying architectural risks, performance bottlenecks and infrastructure improvement opportunities.
Contributing to documentation, operational procedures, disaster recovery processes and engineering standards.
Acting as a technical reference for AWS architecture, cloud operations and platform engineering practices across the Data organization.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Professional Experience
4+ years of experience in Cloud Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or Platform Engineering, with hands-on experience designing, implementing and operating AWS-based solutions in production environments. Required
Strong experience working in AWS environments and supporting cloud-native platforms in production. Required
Experience supporting cloud infrastructure, observability platforms and production incident management. Required
Experience working in complex technical environments with Engineering, Architecture, Security and Operations teams. Required
Experience in banking, fintech or regulated environments. Preferred
Experience supporting large-scale data platforms, Data Lakes or analytics platforms. Preferred
Language
Hard Skills
Strong knowledge of AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM and CloudWatch . Required
Experience with AWS CloudFormation for infrastructure deployment and management. Required
Experience troubleshooting, monitoring and supporting production AWS environments. Required
Strong understanding of security, networking and operational best practices within AWS. Required
Experience operating and supporting Data Lakes and cloud-based data platforms. Required
Knowledge of AWS Lake Formation , data governance and access management concepts. Preferred
Experience with AWS data services such as Glue , Athena , EMR and Redshift . Preferred
Familiarity with orchestration and workflow services such as Step Functions and EventBridge . Preferred
Familiarity with event-driven architectures using SQS , SNS and Kinesis . Preferred
Knowledge of networking services including VPC , Route 53 , Security Groups and NACLs . Preferred
Experience developing automation scripts and operational tooling using Python . Preferred
Experience with AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit) for infrastructure as code and cloud automation. Preferred
Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation. Preferred
