Amentum is seeking a Sheetmetal Worker to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Sheetmetal Worker is responsible for performing a variety of sheet metal fabrication and installation tasks, ensuring precision, structural integrity, and compliance with all applicable safety and quality requirements.
Job Responsibilities:

Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and systems such as ducts, vents, roofs, gutters, and other structures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to prepare materials and carry out required jobs.
- Operate and maintain various sheet metal tools and equipment, including shears, brakes, drills, and welding machines.
- Measure, cut, and bend sheet metal to specific dimensions using manual or computerized equipment as required.
- Assemble parts by welding, bolting, and soldering components to ensure structural integrity and functionality.
- Ensure all products and systems adhere to established specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance, adjustments, and repairs on sheet metal tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Install and maintain HVAC ducts and systems, roofing panels, and other architectural sheet metal components.
- Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation, alignment, and compliance with project specifications.
- Work closely with team members, supervisors, and contractors to coordinate project tasks and meet deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety regulations and procedures.
- Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct. The role demands consistent, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:

1-3 years of relevant experience in sheet metal fabrication, installation, or repair.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal tools, equipment, and techniques, including cutting, bending, welding, and soldering.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and regulatory standards for sheet metal work and equipment operation.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks in various working conditions.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English.
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
- Valid country driver’s license.
- Experience in government or military construction or maintenance projects.
- Familiarity with HVAC ducting or other architectural sheet metal applications.
- Certification in welding, sheet metal, or related trades.
- Knowledge of advanced fabrication and installation techniques, including CNC equipment operation.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
