The System Architect for SAP HANA Financial Closing is responsible for the end-to-end architectural design, governance, and continuous improvement of SAP HANA-based solutions supporting the financial closing process across Allianz entities. The role acts as the primary technical authority for all closing-relevant HANA workloads and ensures alignment with Allianz Technology's global architecture standards, regulatory requirements (IFRS 17, Solvency II), and DORA obligations.
What you do
Architecture Design
- Define, maintain and own the target architecture for SAP HANA-based financial closing solutions, including data models, integration patterns, and performance design.
- Lead solution design for period-end close processes (month-end, quarter-end, year-end), ensuring accuracy, traceability, and auditability.
- Evaluate and recommend SAP HANA versions, features (e.g., calculation views, smart data access, table partitioning), and upgrade paths.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.
Financial Closing Domain
- Translate financial close requirements (general ledger, intercompany reconciliation, consolidation, IFRS 17 reporting) into technical specifications.
- Collaborate with Finance, Controlling, and Group Reporting to align system capabilities with business closing timelines and regulatory deadlines.
- Drive automation of manual closing steps and reduction of closing cycle time through HANA-native capabilities.
Governance Standards
- Enforce Allianz Technology architecture principles and Allianz Group IT policies across all closing-related HANA landscapes (Dev, QA, Prod).
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide sign-off for changes with material impact on the closing landscape.
- Ensure compliance with DORA operational resilience requirements for Critical and Important Functions supported by the closing platform.
Stakeholder Vendor Management
- Act as the primary technical interface to SAP and system integration partners for closing-relevant topics.
- Provide architectural guidance to project teams, developers, and basis administrators working on the closing landscape.
What you bring
Technical Skills
- 8+ years of experience with SAP HANA, including data modelling, performance tuning, and landscape administration.
- Deep expertise in SAP HANA and SAP analytic cloud (SAC)
- Proven track record delivering or architecting financial closing solutions in large, multinational environments.
- Strong understanding of HANA-native development (CDS views, AMDP, calculation views, stored procedures).
Domain Knowledge
- Solid understanding of financial close processes, period-end reporting, and consolidation under IFRS.
- Familiarity with Solvency II and IFRS 17 data and reporting requirements for insurance entities.
- Understanding of data governance, audit trail requirements, and segregation of duties in a regulated financial environment.
Soft Skills Other
- Excellent communication skills – able to bridge technical architecture and business/finance stakeholders.
- Experience working in a globally distributed, multi-OE technology organisation.
- Fluent in English; German or Spanish is an advantage.
- TOGAF, SAP certification (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA), or equivalent is desirable.
