Based at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, within the Housekeeping Department, the Housekeeping Supervisor Trainee supports the supervisory team while gaining comprehensive knowledge of housekeeping operations, quality standards, and people management.
This role is designed to prepare the trainee for a future supervisory position within the department.
The Housekeeping Supervisor Trainee reports to the Housekeeping Manager / Assistant Housekeeping Manager.
- Apply the standards of the department including room cleanliness, grooming and behaviour with the guests and colleagues.
- Evaluate work assignment and prioritize workload according to guest’s requests. Be involved in the laundry department operations (uniforms room, laundry room and ironing room).
- Organize and assign floor attendants, valets and public area attendant’s duties and uniform attendants.
- Ensure all guestrooms assigned are completed at the end of the day including any information for input into guest history file.
- Communicate with Front Desk (floor checks and reports) and other departments (Engineering, Butlers) involved in the Housekeeping operations.
- Coordinate with florist the flower arrangements in the rooms.
- Check the results match the quality standards required.
- Ensure the opening and closing of the department.
- Coordinate all articles left by guest to Lost & Found.
- Assist the Housekeeping management on various projects assigned.
- Strong interest in housekeeping operations and people management within luxury hospitality.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to lead by example with a professional and service-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to learn supervisory responsibilities and operational procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and team spirit.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Fluency in English; Spanish and additional languages are an asset.
