About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Film Buyer / Acquisition Executive to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and acquiring film content for distribution and exhibition across selected territories. This role requires strong industry knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build relationships with production companies, sales agents, and content owners worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and explore all available and upcoming film releases from international and regional production companies.
- Identify commercially viable movies and content opportunities for acquisition and distribution.
- Establish and maintain relationships with film producers, sales agents, studios, and distribution partners.
- Initiate contact with rights holders and negotiate distribution and licensing agreements for selected territories.
- Evaluate film performance potential based on market trends, audience demand, genre analysis, and competitive releases.
- Attend film markets, industry events, screenings, and festivals when required.
- Coordinate with internal teams regarding release strategies, marketing plans, and commercial forecasts.
- Monitor industry developments and maintain a strong pipeline of acquisition opportunities.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in film acquisition, film buying, distribution, content licensing, or a similar role within a cinema chain, film distributor, streaming platform, or media company.
- Strong understanding of the film distribution and exhibition industry.
- Proven experience negotiating content licensing or distribution agreements.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Strong analytical and commercial decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Passion for cinema and entertainment content.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing network of contacts within the film production and distribution industry.
- Experience attending film markets such as Cannes, AFM, EFM, or similar industry events.
- Additional language skills are an advantage.
