ABOUT THE INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION & ELECTRIFICATION (IND) BUSINESS UNIT
TE operates through two customer facing Segments: Industrial Solutions and Transportation Solutions.
The Industrial Automation & Electrification Business Unit is part of TE’s Industrial Solutions segment. The business provides connectivity and sensor solutions for factory automation, process automation, robotics, battery energy storage systems, EV charging infrastructure, and related industrial applications.
The business is positioned at the intersection of long-term trends in automation, electrification, industrial productivity, energy resilience, and smarter infrastructure. Its strategy focuses on building a winning portfolio, expanding into attractive applications and high-growth regions, improving customer experience, and accelerating growth through partnerships and acquisitions.
ROLE REPORTING AND LOCATION
The Director of Strategy and Business Development will report to the Head of Strategy and Business Development of the Industrial BU. The Director will manage a team of high-caliber strategists and business development specialists and will lead the development and implementation of the most important strategic growth initiatives across the business.
This role can be based in most cities in Europe, with a preference for Zurich. Business travel of approximately 20–25% is expected to include meeting colleagues and customers, participating in strategic workshops, attending industry events, and supporting M&A and business development activities.
ROLE DESCRIPTION AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a senior strategy team member, you will contribute to growth strategy plans, competitive strategy, portfolio decisions, and business performance.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Shape the BU growth strategy
Lead development of the BU’s strategic agenda, including market attractiveness, application priorities, product portfolio choices, regional growth opportunities, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
2. Lead high-impact strategic initiatives
Drive cross-functional projects that address the BU’s most important growth and performance questions, including new market entry, adjacency expansion, customer growth, margin improvement, and execution acceleration.
3. Advance portfolio strategy
Assess product and application portfolios to identify investment priorities, growth opportunities, portfolio simplification opportunities, and future strategic direction.
4. Support M&A and partnerships
Partner with Corporate M&A and business leaders to identify, cultivate, assess, and execute inorganic growth opportunities. Support strategic diligence, value creation thesis development, and integration planning.
5. Translate strategy into execution
Design and manage cross-functional execution programs that turn strategic priorities into clear actions, ownership, governance, milestones, and measurable business outcomes.
6. Build strategic capability and talent
Lead and develop high-performing strategy and M&A professionals. Build strategic problem-solving capability across the organization through coaching, structured thinking, and strong business partnerships.
7. Support Business Development analysis and execution
Support the Business Development organization on specific projects and task including governance and implementation.
