The mission of Thales international in regions is to foster and manage growth of Thales presence in all the countries of these Regions for all Thales group activities in the aerospace, space, defense and security domains. In this context, the Regional Hub supports Thales Operational Units initiatives for exporting their solutions to customers in the Regions. Business activities are managed through the local presence of dedicated organizations (representative offices, branches, subsidiaries and JVs).
The Senior Accountant will oversee the financial activities of the Regional Company and its Representative Offices. Operating within the framework of Group procedures, the Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in implementing best practices in ethics and governance. This position is based full-time at the Regional Company’s offices in Madrid.
We are now looking for an International Senior Accountant to join our team in Madrid:
Working in close contact with various stakeholders in the Regional Company environment, the Job Holder will take care, in particular:

Bookkeeping of the RC and Representation Offices expenses into the accounting system and prepare accruals for closings

Collecting and reviewing supporting documents related to expenses

Checking and reviewing receipt exhaustiveness of expenses claims

Support share services for tax declarations

Preparing and uploading payments files in banks websites for approval

Analysing balance sheets of all entities in Thales Euram scope with distribution of dividends and fair value bookkeeping

Invoice bookkeeping and elaborate financial statements for Netherlands entities and Euram
Moreover, the Senior Accountant will:

Ensure strict adherence to procedures related to expense claims, including business expenses and benefits/allowances.

Serve as the primary point of contact for Thales Spain under the shared services agreement between the Regional Company and Thales Spain, covering accounting, treasury, human resources, reporting, and tax matters.

Oversee the monthly closing processes of the Regional Company, including accruals and monthly financial result analysis.

Act as a valuable resource during audits conducted by EY France and Spanish auditors.

Take responsibility for the approval and accurate allocation of all expenses recorded in the Regional Company’s accounts, encompassing supplier invoices and employee expense claims. Additionally, closely monitor the Regional Company’s fixed assets in coordination with the Thales Spain accounting department.

Manage the preparation and validation of payments and monitor cash flow for Thales Euram, the Netherlands entities, and Representative Offices. This includes supporting bank reconciliations and reconciling approximately 62 bank accounts and key ledger accounts.

Handle hedging activities with assistance from Thales Spain and Corporate teams.

Serve as the main liaison with external auditors, providing support to the Thales Euram CFO, and participate in internal audits of foreign entities (representative offices or subsidiaries) reporting directly to the Regional Company as needed.

Prepare and finalize financial statements for the Regional Company, including those for the Netherlands entities.

Contribute to specific regional finance matters impacting the Regional Company.

Be responsible for preparing transfer pricing documentation, assessing year-end fair value, and proposing dividend distributions from sister companies to parent companies (covering 20 entities).
Relations:
The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Controlling Manager and the Finance Director of the Regional Company. They will be an integral member of the Thales International finance team and collaborate regularly with local teams, shared services in Portugal, local CFOs across LATAM and Europe, the legal department, and Corporate departments based in Paris.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

The candidate must have a minimum of 4 to 5 years of professional experience in accounting within an international environment, along with initial experience in finance or budget cost control.

A strong command of English and Spanish is required; proficiency in French is considered an advantage.

The candidate should demonstrate autonomy, attention to detail, confidence, strong teamwork skills, excellent organizational abilities, and an appreciation for the cultures, traditions, and lifestyles of the Regions.

Proficiency in software tools such as Oracle, AFAS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential.
