Job summary:
Reporting to the Global IT Network Manager, the IT Network L3 Engineer role requires demonstrated experience designing and owning enterprise network architectures at global scale. This position will act as technical Subject Matter Expert for the overall Network environment and any related topics. Hands-on implementation is expected, but success in this role depends on architectural depth, decision-making authority, and the ability to lead complex initiatives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and implement complex global network solutions across LAN, MAN, WAN, SD‑WAN, Wi‑Fi, SASE, and Site‑to‑Site VPN technologies in a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Lead the design and rollout of a Zero Trust Network Architecture , ensuring secure access across hybrid, multi-cloud, and on‑prem environments with high operational variability.
- Own network security architecture decisions in close partnership with the Information Security team, including tool selection, policy definition, and enforcement models aligned with enterprise security standards.
- Act as primary escalation point for Tier‑3 and Tier‑4 network incidents , leading cross-domain troubleshooting efforts and coordinating with internal SMEs and external vendors.
- Perform deep root cause analysis for critical outages and systemic failures, driving corrective and preventive actions to improve overall network resilience.
- Ensure optimal network performance and reliability through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and continuous service improvement; maintain accurate and actionable operational runbooks.
- Serve as Network Stream Lead for global infrastructure and business projects, accountable for technical design, delivery quality, timelines, and risk management.
- Produce detailed technical documentation , including high‑level architecture designs, low‑level configurations, and operational handover materials for IT Operations teams.
- Ensure compliance, security, scalability, and interoperability across the enterprise network ecosystem, including legacy and modern platforms.
- Architect and support cloud networking solutions (Azure/AWS/GCP hybrid connectivity, network security, routing, and segmentation) in collaboration with the Infrastructure Cloud team.
- Actively contribute to Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning , including network design, testing, and execution of recovery scenarios.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of networking and security best practices , emerging technologies, and industry standards to continuously enhance gategroup’s digital footprint and risk posture.
Core Competencies and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology
- 5 years + working experience in a Network engineer role
- 7 years + in an IT infrastructure role
- Work experience in a large multinational, matrix structured company
- Expert knowledge of core routing and switching, network design principles, best practices, and related technologies
- Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and implementation
- Proven experience with network planning, network security principles
- Excellent English skills.
- Any other major European Language preferred, but not required.
- Experience with Cloud network design (Microsoft Azure & AWS).
- Hands-on experience with technology from various vendors
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
- Experience in implementing and managing Zero trust networks desired
- Ability to work on in non-office hours on demand in case of high severity incident
- Understanding of key IT Infrastructure technologies and associated architectural considerations
