Role overview
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and interpersonal skills to join our M&A team in Madrid. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional who is eager to develop a career in M&A insurance underwriting.
You will work closely with senior underwriters, brokers, legal advisors and clients to deliver tailored insurance solutions, combining technical legal expertise with commercial awareness in a fast-paced international environment.
Role responsibilities
Supporting senior underwriters in the analysis and underwriting of M&A insurance risks;
Reviewing and analysing due diligence reports, primarily legal due diligence documentation;
Conducting analysis of transaction documentation, including Share Purchase Agreements (SPA), Disclosure Letters, Management Agreements and other related documents;
Participating in the negotiation and quotation of policy terms and conditions with brokers;
Coordinating with external advisors, including leading law firms and specialist consultants;
Supporting business development activities and contributing to client and broker relationship management;
Assisting in the preparation of underwriting files, quotations and policy documentation;
Monitoring and maintaining accurate records of underwriting data and documentation in internal systems;
Supporting senior underwriters in day-to-day underwriting activities and portfolio management;
Staying informed about market trends, industry developments and emerging risks within the M&A insurance market; and
Ensuring compliance with internal underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Key requirements
Law degree, complemented by a Master's degree, preferably in Access to the Legal Profession, Corporate Law, M&A or a related field;
2–3 years of professional experience in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 law firm, international law firm, or Big Four professional services firm;
Experience advising on M&A transactions;
Experience reviewing and analysing due diligence reports;
Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements and transaction documentation;
Strong analytical skills with a rigorous and detail-oriented approach;
Highly organized, proactive and self-motivated;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment;
Strong interest in combining technical legal expertise with commercial and business development activities;
Willingness to travel occasionally and flexibility to support international transactions and cross-border operations;
Fluency in English & Spanish is essential, Portuguese would be highly desirable, and additional languages such as Italian or French would be considered an advantage.
