The role
We are looking for a dynamic Corporate Desk – Client Coverage Credit Associate Director to join an international team of professionals in our Madrid office on a full-time permanent basis. You will be working alongside our global offices and in frequent communication with international teams. The Corporate Desk – Client Coverage Credit Associate Director is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing corporate lending opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with corporate clients. This role combines business development, credit analysis, and portfolio monitoring to identify client needs, negotiate tailored financial solutions, and support the execution of transactions in coordination with internal teams. The Associate Director also plays a key role in expanding client coverage, driving cross-selling opportunities, and ensuring proactive monitoring of portfolio performance and risk.
Roles and Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Coverage:
- Involvement in the process of prospecting companies and originating Corporate Lending business opportunities, performing initial credit analysis, negotiating deal terms and assisting during structuring and closing.
- Development of commercial skills (impact and influence) for approaching corporate clients (C-level/Treasury), to develop strong long-term client relationships for the bank.
- Organize regular visits and pitches to attract potential new clients and increase brand awareness.
- Originate business opportunities for other areas/products of the bank, providing a “one-stop shop” service for the client, with the objective of improving client coverage and increasing revenues and cross sell for the bank.
Credit Assessment & Financial Analysis:
- Develop critical thinking for the initial evaluation of business opportunities, enhancing knowledge about economic sectors, understanding financial statements and cash flow projections, to efficiently prospect business opportunities and ensure accuracy while introducing them internally.
- Involvement in the process of prospecting companies and originating Corporate Lending business opportunities, performing initial credit analysis, negotiating deal terms and assisting during structuring and closing.
Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Oversight:
- Monitor the active credit portfolio, identifying client’s potential new needs and deciding on the most suitable way to serve different demands.
- Monitor exposure balances and results generated by corporate clients across the different products and track performance towards established goals.
- Ensure the active monitoring and reporting of any corporate risks on the portfolio (identify any risk deterioration and report any relevant news/information).
Commercial Negotiation & Execution Support:
- Monitor commercial negotiations, participating in credit calls and meetings with clients, negotiating drafts and preparing commercial proposals.
- Assist on the day-to-day demands from active credit portfolio clients: disbursement of funds, guarantee control, resolution of registration issues, waivers, etc.
- Involvement in the process of prospecting companies and originating Corporate Lending business opportunities, performing initial credit analysis, negotiating deal terms and assisting during structuring and closing.
Internal Coordination & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Interact actively with the different teams involved on a new business opportunity (Product, Risk, Legal, Compliance and Operations) to maximize efficiency during analysis, approval and execution process (structuring, credit analysis, preparation of credit committees’ memos, discussion of legal documentation, onboarding and transaction execution).
Activity Tracking & Performance Reporting:
- Track commercial activity of the Corporate Lending platform: disbursed operations, pipeline and prospects.
- Monitor exposure balances and results generated by corporate clients across the different products and track performance towards established goals.
- Ensure the active monitoring and reporting of any corporate risks on the portfolio (identify any risk deterioration and report any relevant news/information).

Skills & Experience
- Completed higher education (preferably in Economics, Business Administration or Engineering).
- At least 6 years of working experience within credit markets in Corporate Banking, Private Debt or Private Equity.
- Knowledge of Iberian mid/large corporate market (having existing relationships a plus) across all sectors.
- Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint and Excel, mainly) and advanced knowledge of accounting.
