Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager – Content Platforms to lead the development, maintenance, and evolution of our content publishing systems. This role combines people leadership, technical strategy, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure our platforms remain reliable, scalable, and innovative.
The ideal candidate is passionate about building high-performing engineering teams, improving content workflows, and delivering technology solutions that support editorial and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers responsible for content management and publishing platforms.
- Define and execute the technical roadmap for content systems and related infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Editorial, Design, and Operations teams to deliver business-critical features.
- Drive engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, security, and performance optimization.
- Manage project planning, resource allocation, and delivery timelines.
- Support platform scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop engineering talent.
- Monitor key platform metrics and ensure high availability of content services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.
- Strong understanding of content management systems (CMS), publishing platforms, or digital media technologies.
- Experience with cloud-based architectures and modern web technologies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects from planning through delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within digital publishing, media, or content-driven organizations.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with API-driven architectures and microservices.
- Knowledge of analytics, SEO, and content distribution technologies.
