We're looking for a Technical Product Owner to work at the intersection of product and engineering. You'll be embedded within our backend engineering teams, acting as the bridge between business needs and technical execution on our most complex, infrastructure-heavy projects.
Your core ownership is the what and how: working alongside the Product Manager to define features, understand technical feasibility, and translate product decisions into well-scoped engineering work. Once the scope is defined, you'll stay close to the engineering team to unblock, clarify, and make sure what gets built matches what was intended.
- Own the backlog for technical projects: Define, prioritize, and maintain a well-groomed backlog for technical and backend-focused initiatives. Write user stories and technical requirements that engineers can actually work from.
- Translate requirements into technical scope: Work with stakeholders to gather and understand business needs, then break them down into clear, concrete specs that the engineering team can execute on without ambiguity.
- Unblock engineering teams: Be the first line of support when teams hit blockers - whether that's clarifying a requirement, making a scoping decision, escalating to the right person, or finding a pragmatic solution to a technical constraint.
- Understand the technical context: Dive deep into backend systems, architecture decisions, and platform dependencies. You don't need to write the code, but you need to understand the implications of technical choices.
- Bridge product and engineering: Facilitate communication between backend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders. Make sure everyone is aligned on priorities, scope, and timelines.
- Identify and manage dependencies: Map cross-team and cross-system dependencies early. Flag risks before they become blockers.
- Contribute to technical discovery: Participate in architecture discussions and technical planning sessions. Bring the product and business perspective when the team is evaluating technical solutions.
- Stay close through delivery: Once scope is defined and work is underway, remain the point of contact for engineering on requirement questions and scope clarifications.
Must-have
- 4+ years of experience in a product, technical, or engineering role — as a Senior PO, Technical PM, or similar — with deep, hands-on exposure to backend or platform engineering teams.
- Technical background: You understand how backend systems work — APIs, databases, services architecture, integrations. You don't need to code, but you need to speak the language fluently enough to earn engineers' trust.
- Requirements engineering: You know how to gather, refine, and document requirements in a way that's useful for engineering teams. You write stories that are clear, testable, and well-scoped.
- Problem-solving under ambiguity: You're comfortable in situations where the problem isn't fully defined. You ask the right questions to get to clarity, and you're able to propose solutions rather than just escalate problems.
- Stakeholder management: You can manage competing priorities, communicate tradeoffs clearly, and keep multiple teams aligned without losing momentum.
- English proficiency (B2/C1): You can read technical documentation, write specs, and participate in meetings in English comfortably.
Nice-to-have
- Experience working in payments, fintech, or infrastructure products.
- Familiarity with payment protocols, device integrations, or IoT environments — understanding what it means to build products that live at the intersection of hardware and software.
- Experience with agile at scale: managing backlogs across multiple teams, working with tech leads on roadmap planning, or coordinating cross-team dependencies.
- Exposure to API design, data modeling, or system integration projects.
- Prior experience as a software developer or technical analyst — knowing what it's like to sit on the engineering side.
- Background in startups or scale-ups where things move fast and processes are still being built.
