As EIT Urban Mobility advances in its mission to support the transition to sustainable urban mobility in cities, this role will be instrumental in strengthening our strategic voice across Europe.
Over the past years, EIT Urban Mobility has established itself as Europe's leading innovation community for sustainable urban mobility. As our portfolio of solutions, partnerships and policy engagement continue to grow, so does the need for clear, narrative-driven and influential positioning that helps shape debates, inform decision makers and connect innovation with the organisation’s strategic priorities and long-term impact ambitions for Europe’s mobility system.
The Strategic Positioning Lead provides support to the Director of Strategy & Innovation to strengthen and elevate EIT Urban Mobility's organisational voice through high quality strategic positioning, thought leadership studies and compelling knowledge products.
Working closely with the Strategy team, including Domain Leads, you will translate strategic priorities into clear and compelling narratives that position EIT Urban Mobility across the knowledge triangle, engaging private sector actors, public authorities, research organisations and the wider innovation ecosystem. You will identify emerging trends and opportunities, support executive decision making and strengthen our positioning as a trusted strategic partner shaping the future of urban mobility in Europe.

Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the development and continuous refinement of strategies to create impact across EIT Urban Mobility’s five priority domains: Public and Shared Transport, Health and Mobility, Electrification and Alternative Fuels, Sustainable Urban Logistics and Mobility Data Management, ensuring alignment across the organisation and responsiveness to evolving market, technology and policy developments.
- Developing and refining EIT Urban Mobility's strategic positioning across the Priority Domains, working closely with Domain Leads, thematic areas, Regional Hubs and other internal stakeholders.
- Translating market intelligence, policy developments and domain specific insights into strategic priorities that guide organisational decision making while recognising regional and local differences across Europe.
- Leveraging regional strategies to strengthen EIT Urban Mobility's overall strategic approach. In collaboration with EU Affairs and the Innovation Hubs, mapping key stakeholders, initiatives and opportunities at national and regional level and developing coherent engagement strategies.
- Identifying, analysing and communicating regulatory, policy and market barriers affecting cities, innovators, start-ups and partners, providing recommendations to improve market uptake and deployment of innovative mobility solutions.
- Leading or overseeing the development of studies, foresight exercises and strategic publications that support organisational priorities and strengthen EIT Urban Mobility's thought leadership.
- Identifying, establishing and managing strategic partnerships with influential international organisations, think tanks and networks that complement the work of EU Affairs and enhance EIT Urban Mobility's visibility, influence and ecosystem impact.
- Supporting EU Affairs in representing EIT Urban Mobility vis a vis senior political stakeholders and organisations increasing the visibility of the organisation, its interconnecting with these stakeholders, and enhancing its political advocacy.
- Supporting leadership roles through the preparation of strategic briefings, speeches, panel discussions, background papers and meetings with senior stakeholders.
- Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of EIT Urban Mobility's impact framework, helping assess and communicate the societal, environmental and economic impact of the organisation's activities.
- Shaping the strategic content and programme of flagship events, including Community Days, Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress, Mobility Talks and other high level forums, ensuring they reinforce EIT Urban Mobility's strategic positioning and influence.
What you will bring along the way:
An ideal candidate will strive to generate positive environmental and social impact in line with EIT Urban Mobility’s mission. Success in this role will be measured by EIT Urban Mobility's ability to strengthen its strategic influence, shape European mobility debates, and translate knowledge into organisational action.
Must-have:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in strategy, public affairs, policy, consulting, innovation or institutional engagement within the fields of mobility, cities, innovation or sustainability.
- Proven expertise in urban mobility or a closely related field, with an in depth understanding of the European urban mobility ecosystem, innovation landscape and key policy developments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop organisational positioning, thought leadership strategies and executive level strategic narratives.
- Strong knowledge of European institutions, decision making processes, research and innovation programmes and the broader policy landscape relevant to sustainable urban mobility.
- Outstanding analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex market, technology and policy developments into actionable strategic recommendations.
- Exceptional writing, communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing strategic reports, executive briefings, speeches and high quality publications.
- Proven experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across European institutions, cities, industry, research organisations and international networks.
- Strong political judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to identify emerging opportunities and anticipate future developments.
- Self starter with a hands on attitude, able to lead strategic initiatives independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (C1 level or above), both written and spoken.
Nice-to-have:
- Any additional EU language is a plus.
- Experience working in a European or international organisation.
- Experience in a strategy consultancy, think tank or public policy organisation.
