Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation. Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.
This role sits at the intersection of enterprise architecture, data governance, and business transformation. The Lead Architect – Data Quality works with business and IT leaders to redesign end-to-end processes and data flows so that high-quality data becomes the default outcome rather than a downstream correction effort.
The position plays a central role in large-scale change initiatives (e.g., ERP modernization, MDM rollout, customer and material master harmonization, PLM integrations), providing a unique opportunity to create lasting architectural impact across Sulzer.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design of enterprise data quality architecture and ensure preventive controls are embedded into processes and systems by default.
Define and evolve enterprise data models, standards, critical data elements, and validation rules across priority domains (e.g., Customer, Material, Product).
Drive root-cause elimination initiatives by redesigning processes, system interactions, and data ownership models.
Define data quality KPIs and maturity tracking; monitor trends, risks, and progress and report transparently to governance bodies and management.
Act as a key architectural contributor to data-related transformation programs (ERP, CRM, PLM, MDM, integration, analytics).
Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture and IT leadership to shape future-state data and integration architecture decisions.
Establish escalation mechanisms aligned with the enterprise data governance framework and enable consistent decision-making across Legal Entities.
Contribute to evaluation and selection of data quality, governance, and MDM technologies and help define target-state capabilities.
Candidate Profile
University degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data quality, data governance, or related enterprise transformation roles.
Strong understanding of data quality management and controls, enterprise data flows, integrations, and end-to-end business processes.
Proven ability to perform root-cause analysis beyond symptoms and drive structural remediation.
Strong conceptual thinking combined with pragmatic execution and delivery focus.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a global industrial, engineering, or manufacturing environment.
Hands-on exposure to enterprise application landscapes (SAP-centric environments such as S/4HANA/MDG, CRM, PLM, MDM).
Experience working closely with Enterprise Architects or IT architecture teams.
Relevant certification in data management, data governance, or architecture.
Familiarity with modern integration patterns and data platforms (API-led integration, event-driven patterns, data lakes/warehouses) is a plus.
Success Measures
Recurring data quality issues are reduced through structural, preventive solutions.
Data quality controls are embedded into business processes and system designs.
Clear ownership and accountability for data quality issues are established and followed.
