Job Description:
An opportunity for an Systems Engineer - Aircraft Electrification & Lightning Protection has arisen within Airbus Operations, Getafe (Madrid).
The selected candidate will join the EMH Lightning Direct Effects Team , a highly specialized and multicultural team of engineers working across four European nations. We contribute to all Airbus Aircraft programmes and cross-divisional projects (including Airbus Commercial, Helicopters, Defence and Space, and Airbus Canada) across all phases of development—from R&T and concept, through development and certification, to in-service support of the flying fleet.
The team is multidisciplinary and focused on the fields of Lightning Direct Effects (LDE), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), and Electrical Bonding. The jobholder will reinforce our Systems Engineering domain, taking part in the definition, implementation, and certification of complex systems to design safe, mature, and robust solutions for the next generation of electrified and green aircrafts.
The main tasks of the jobholder will be:
Influence and trade aircraft architectures , structures, and systems integration to achieve optimized solutions resistant to lightning strike attachment damage and fuel vapor ignition hazards.
Define and implement LDE and ESD requirements for new systems, including the identification of applicable airworthiness regulations and certification requirements.
Validate the compliance of designs against requirements and follow up on activities within the official aircraft certification process.
Create laboratory, ground, and flight test requests , and deliver detailed analysis and conclusions of the test results.
Support and steer engineering activities with internal and sub-contract partners, defining the work scope for LDE and ESD related activities.
Provide engineering support across a variety of topics including manufacturing quality, standardisation, environmental qualification, and in-service customer support.

Education: Engineering degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
Experience: Between 2 to 5 years of experience in Electromagnetic Hazards (EMH).
Technical knowledge: Strong electrical and physical understanding, alongside an appreciation of airframe architecture and materials. Analytical capability across stress, system, and electrical engineering.
Soft skills: High curiosity and desire to continuously learn, solution-oriented mindset, strong team spirit within a transnational environment, and the ability to simplify complex technical topics.
Languages: Negotiation level / Advanced level in English.
Valuable / Nice to have: Knowledge of aircraft certification processes and experience in transnational engineering project follow-up.
