Project Coordinator - Spain Carbon and Energy Pipeline
Location: Madrid (with frequent travel to Zamora, Galicia, and Asturias)

ClearSky Limited is a global climate solutions company backed by MKS PAMP, delivering high-integrity carbon and energy efficiency projects across multiple registries and methodologies. In Spain, ClearSky is executing a growing reforestation pipeline registered under the MITECO official carbon absorption registry, and developing a CAE (Certificados de Ahorro Energetico) origination business targeting industrial energy efficiency projects.
About the Role
We are looking for a project coordinator based in Madrid to manage the operational execution of our Spain reforestation pipeline and support the development of our CAE business. This is a hands-on role that requires regular travel to rural project sites, direct engagement with forestry contractors, landowner communities, government agencies, and industrial counterparties.
Key Responsibilities
Reforestation Pipeline (primary):
- Coordinate planting execution with forestry contractors: vivero orders, site preparation, planting schedules, species density specifications, and marras replacement programs
- Manage relationships with landowner communities (CMVMCs, mancomunidades, ayuntamientos) and ensure governance documentation (juntas reitoras, actas, cesion de derechos) is current and legally valid
- Prepare and submit MITECO carbon absorption registry applications: PDD preparation, V7 calculator runs, subsanacion responses, and correspondence with OECC
- Coordinate legal DD packages with external counsel: notas simples from Registro de la Propiedad, catastral certificates, escrituras de herencia, DRS drafting, and cesion de derechos de absorciones de CO2
- Track project budgets, capex per hectare, milestone payments, and contractor invoices across multiple concurrent projects
- Liaise with regional forestry authorities (JCyL SOMACYL, Xunta de Galicia, Principado de Asturias) on concession documentation, planting authorizations, and forestry permits
- Maintain project documentation, GIS maps, and reporting across the pipeline
- Support commercial team with project data for investor presentations, buyer materials, and financing packages
CAE Origination and Project Management (secondary):
- Identify and screen CAE-eligible projects across Spanish industrial sectors (VFD installations, heat recovery, compressed air optimization, lighting retrofits, HVAC upgrades)
- Engage with comunidades de regantes, industrial facilities, and energy service companies (ESCOs) to originate CAE projects
- Prepare CAE project documentation: energy audits, baseline calculations, measurement and verification (M&V) plans, and IDAE submission packages
- Track CAE regulatory developments, pricing, and market dynamics
- Coordinate with buyers (utilities, comercializadoras) for CAE offtake agreements
- Build relationships with Spanish energy efficiency contractors and engineering firms
General:
- Contribute to project financial models, feasibility analyses, and investment memoranda
- Support due diligence on new project opportunities across Spain
- Represent ClearSky at industry events, forestry association meetings, and government consultations
Required
- Native Spanish speaker (Castilian). Non-negotiable for rural landowner, government, and industrial interactions across multiple regions.
- 3-6 years experience in forestry, carbon projects, energy efficiency, environmental consulting, or rural project management in Spain
- Familiarity with at least one of: MITECO carbon absorption registry (VM0047/V7 methodology), CAE market and IDAE framework, or Spanish forestry concession management
- Experience working with Spanish public administration at regional or national level
- Willingness to travel regularly to rural project sites (Zamora, Pontevedra, Lugo, Asturias, and other locations as the pipeline grows)
- Strong organizational skills, Excel proficiency, attention to detail
- University degree in forestry engineering (ingeniero de montes), environmental science, industrial engineering, energy engineering, or related discipline
Preferred
- Ingeniero de montes or ingeniero forestal qualification (COITF membership)
- Direct experience with MITECO carbon registry submissions
- Knowledge of CAE market: eligible technologies, IDAE requirements, M&V protocols
- Experience with Spanish land registry (Registro de la Propiedad) and catastro systems
- Experience with CMVMC governance structures in Galicia
- Knowledge of EU ETS, FNMT certification processes, or Verra/Puro.earth registries
- Proficiency in GIS tools (QGIS, Google Earth Pro)
- English proficiency (working level for internal communications)
