About the Role
At Symrise, we are looking for a Project Engineer to lead and coordinate the successful execution of engineering projects across our production site.
In this role, you will ensure the planning, design, installation, and delivery of industrial systems and equipment, aligning technical solutions with business needs, safety standards, and operational excellence.
This position requires a solid engineering foundation, ideally with a background in Chemical Engineering, enabling you to understand production processes, equipment behavior, and technical constraints within a manufacturing environment.
You will act as a key interface between engineering, operations, suppliers, and project stakeholders, contributing directly to the efficiency, reliability, and long-term performance of our installations.
Project Management & Execution
- Manage the full lifecycle of projects, from planning to execution and final delivery
- Coordinate activities across commercial, technical, logistical, and commissioning phases
- Contribute to project portfolio management and budgeting, handling multiple projects simultaneously
Engineering & Technical Expertise
- Perform technical calculations (mechanical and thermodynamic) related to production equipment
- Oversee the installation of equipment and piping systems within production areas
- Ensure all solutions comply with safety, regulatory, and operational requirements
Procurement & Equipment Management
- Define and validate technical specifications for equipment and materials
- Support procurement processes to ensure optimal technical and cost-effective solutions
Site Coordination & Operations
- Coordinate installation and engineering activities with different plant departments
- Support engineering and maintenance activities across the site
- Monitor project progress and escalate any risks or non-conformities
External Partners Management
- Supervise and manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and technical standards
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to improving operational reliability, energy efficiency, and cost optimization
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site
About you
- Degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical, Electrical, or related fields
- Experience or strong interest in project management within industrial or manufacturing environments
- Good understanding of production processes and industrial equipment, ideally within chemical, food, fragrance, or similar sectors
- Experience in multidisciplinary projects
- Knowledge of SAP or similar systems is a plus
- Familiarity with food safety, GMP, or industrial standards is considered an asset
- Strong coordination, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams
- Proactive mindset, with a drive for continuous improvement and operational excellence
