We are seeking a driven and business-minded Legal Counsel (Mid-Level) with 3 to 4 years of experience to join our Legal (Contract & Product) division covering the ILA region. In this role, you will act as our resident expert on regional law (with a strong focus on Spain and Portugal) and the primary point of contact for our ILA teams across regional entities.
However, we operate globally and collaboratively. Rather than working in a siloed legal environment, you will play a critical role in our unified approach to legal processes. Working alongside the rest of the legal team, you will provide legal advice on our banking, invoicing, and accounting products across all the countries we operate in, utilizing scalable, standardized templates and processes.
If you are a legal expert who enjoys deep-diving into local law but thrives as part of a unified team in a broader, cross-border commercial environment, this is the role for you.
Job located in Madrid
Global Product & Contract Advisory
Contract Negotiation & Review: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements (SaaS contracts, partnerships, vendor agreements, NDAs) across the ILA region. You will leverage our established playbooks to negotiate effectively while minimizing localized, bespoke legal drafting.
Product Counsel: Provide comprehensive legal advice on our banking, invoicing, and accounting products across all our operating countries, working in tandem with the wider legal team.
Process Standardization: Champion our unified way of working. Utilize, update, and help maintain standardized templates, playbooks, and global legal processes.
Cross-Border Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, and business teams globally to identify legal risks in product development and propose practical, compliant solutions.
ILA Region Legal Expertise & Point of Contact
Local Advisory: Serve as the primary legal point of contact and trusted advisor for our ILA teams (including Spain and Portugal) and regional entities.
Regional Law Expert: Provide expert guidance across all areas of local law relevant to our products and contracts within the region (including contract, commercial, regulatory, and banking law). Ensure our unified global processes and templates comply with local statutory requirements.
Corporate & Litigation Support: Act in a supporting capacity for corporate housekeeping and litigation matters specifically within the ILA region, assisting external counsel or internal specialized teams when solicited.
Shared Team Operations & Admin
CLM & Admin Duties: As part of a small team, admin is a shared daily reality. You will participate in updating and populating our Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system, as well as handling routine tasks like archiving, signature compliance, and reporting.
Legal Watch: Monitor legislative and regulatory developments (particularly in Spain, Portugal, and the broader ILA region) that could impact our products and operations, sharing relevant updates with the team.
Process Implementation: Actively participate in the physical implementation and rollout of new legal processes.
Experience: You have 3 to 4 years of proven legal experience as a mid-level legal counsel.
Industry Background: A strong background working in a SaaS or fast-paced start-up environment is highly expected.
Location: You are based in Madrid, Spain, but comfortable handling matters across the broader region.
