PROJECT ENGINEER (Industrial Sector)
MISSION STATEMENT:
Reporting to the Global CAPEX area, the selected candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of capital projects (CAPEX), ensuring successful execution in terms of scope, cost, timeline, and safety. The role acts as a key interface between technical teams, operations, and external partners such as contractors and suppliers.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
- End-to-End Project Ownership: Manage capital investment projects (up to ~$5M) from initial concept through execution and completion, including scope definition, cost estimation, preparation of capital expenditure requests, and resource planning.
- Project Planning & Execution: Define project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring efficient execution with minimal disruption to existing plant operations.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams (engineering, operations, maintenance, and technical teams) to achieve project and site objectives.
- Cost Control & Performance Monitoring: Track project performance (cost, schedule, scope), proactively identify deviations, and communicate progress to senior stakeholders through reports and presentations.
- Procurement & Supplier Management: Develop RFQs, evaluate proposals, and manage procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiation, and contractor coordination to optimize system performance.
- Technical Specification & Engineering Design: Develop and review technical specifications to ensure compliance with site standards and equipment availability, including preparation of engineering documentation.
- Engineering Documentation & Drawings: Prepare, review, and maintain engineering drawings such as Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), assembly drawings, and detailed design documentation.
- System Design & Troubleshooting: Design, analyze, and troubleshoot equipment and systems related to instrumentation, controls, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, and heat transfer processes.
- Field Evaluation & Continuous Improvement: Evaluate field installations, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend design modifications to eliminate system or equipment malfunctions.
- Commissioning & Start-up Management: Oversee installation, commissioning, and start-up of new or upgraded equipment, ensuring performance validation and operational readiness.
- Contractor Supervision: Manage external contractors on-site, ensuring alignment with project requirements, timelines, and safety standards.
- Risk & Safety Management: Conduct risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA) and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all project phases.
- Standardization & Best Practices: Ensure consistency and replication of best-in-class process technologies across different sites when applicable.
REQUIERED PROFILE
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or equivalent).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering or related roles within industrial/manufacturing environments.
Proven experience managing capital projects and coordinating project engineering teams.
Demonstrated experience working in complex industrial settings with exposure to plant operations and project execution.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical and instrumentation engineering.
Proven experience in reading, interpreting, and developing mechanical and engineering design drawings.
Solid knowledge of process engineering fundamentals, including PFDs, P&IDs, and material balances.
Experience with risk assessment and safety methodologies such as HAZOP and FMEA.
Experience in system design, troubleshooting and optimization in industrial environments.
Familiarity with procurement processes, technical specifications development, and vendor selection.
Project & Operational Capabilities
Proven ability to manage contractors and external suppliers within project environments.
Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and working effectively in matrix organizations.
Strong understanding of project lifecycle management, including planning, execution, monitoring, and commissioning phases.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality standards and meeting deadlines.
