Stark builds the world’s most powerful electric motorcycles. From the VARG MX to the road-legal VARG EX & SM, our bikes have won world championships and are engineered to outperform anything with a combustion engine.
We’re based in Sant Boi, Barcelona, growing fast (77% year-on-year), and building a team that will take us even further. If you want to work on a product that people are genuinely obsessed with, this is it.
Stark will become the global market leader in premium motorcycles. Building premium motorcycles requires innovation and we need your help to make us succeed
Our mission is to lead the way towards a sustainable motorcycle industry, by reducing plastic and CO2 pollution.
This will be achieved by building sustainable products that are superior to traditional technology in terms of Performance, Emotion and Design.
The engineering department at Stark Future develops cutting-edge motorcycles from the ground up. As a Analytical Calculations Engineer, you'll be at the core of the creation of next-generation electric motorcycles & associated products.
You’ll be responsible for the development of pre/post processing tools for simulation, development of 1D simulation models and data analysis coming from bike testing. You will be also in charge of structuring and compiling all test data from field and lab tests and analyzing it in order to provide support and decision-making data to the rest of team. This data will range multiple domains, from structural to thermal, fluid mechanics to electrical engineering. You are required to be versed in most engineering disciplines and understand the implications and connections between these multiple areas. You will be working within a multidisciplinary team led by a Head of simulation and validation, while being part of a growing team of engineers and designers in Barcelona. You'll need to have hands-on experience in developing high-volume complex products and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving, and highly innovative environment.
Perform 1D simulation to validate thermal management designs and concepts to meet vehicle requirements
Continuously investigate and deploy new simulation methodology for new area of electro/mechanical interest
Participate and provide support postprocessing data from requests from other third-party players (mechatronics, brakes, cooling, powertrain…) as well as internal CAE teams (FEA, CFD…).
Help with track testing set up and data acquisition.
Perform sensor calibration together with the testing team.
Take full responsibility and ownership of postprocessing all data coming from sensor-equipped bike as well as other auxiliary tests (stiffness, bench testing, fatigue…)
Give to simulation teams all the data necessary to define new LC coming from lab and track testing.
Assist or potentially become fully responsible for any other wide-spread mechanical elements used on the bike in terms of calculations. A typical example would be fasteners and structural joints.
Producing high-quality and information-rich reports as project outputs in order to portray finding and conclusions in a clear and concise manner to all involved stake-holders.
Degree in mechanical, aeronautical, or other similar engineering fields.
MEng/MSc or specialisation in vehicle mechanics/dynamics can be an asset.
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams & also independently with minimal supervision.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-evolving, highly innovative environment (startups or high-tech companies).
You have high standards for yourself and everyone you work with.
Constantly looking for ways to improve our products' performance, quality and cost.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, fluent English is a must.
Experience
At least 4 years of experience in vehicle dynamics.
Matlab advanced level.
1-D model correlation experience.
Experience in strain gauge technology and/or other vehicle sensor technology (accelerometers, potentiometers, temperature, pressure, flow-meter, etc.).
Proven ability to understand and perform hands-on work if and when necessary.
Experience with data acquisition systems and software, both on track and at in lab environment.
Natural ability to understand engineering/physical phenomena and how to break-down complex systems into simplified entities in order to translate them into mathematical models.
Capable of managing projects, including schedules.
Nice to have
Programing capabilities (specially python)
Understanding of static and dynamic load cases and structural analyses.
Demonstrable Formula SAE/Student experience.
The chance to work on a product people are genuinely passionate about
A fast-growing company with real momentum
A creative, international team based in Barcelona
Competitive salary and benefits package
Direct access to riders, race teams, and the product — this is not a remote-from-the-product role
Subsidized lunch in our in house restaurant
