THE COMPANY
This company is an internationally active family business with over many decades of experience in non‑ferrous process equipment for the different industries. From its headquarters in the Netherlands, it executes large‑scale projects around the world for clients in the plastics and process industries. By keeping engineering, manufacturing and on‑site assembly in‑house, the company maintains strict control over budget, quality and delivery times, supported by advanced manufacturing technologies and a proprietary prefabrication and assembly system. Its operations are underpinned by certified quality management and welding standards, as well as formal business ethics and compliance policies that align with European and international norms.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Are you a hands-on, entrepreneurial and resilient person? Someone who naturally takes ownership of planning, budget, safety and delivery, is comfortable leading welders and local crews on site? Do you stay calm and solution-focused under pressure while projects are running at full speed?
The ideal person enjoys spending weeks abroad, adapts quickly to different cultures, and can be both firm and respectful when dealing with clients and local teams. Strong communication skills, clear decision-making and the ability to handle conflict without damaging relationships are essential, as is a genuine drive to deliver high-quality technical work in challenging international environments.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
As an International Site Manager, you are responsible for the assembly and delivery of large technical installations at customer sites around the globe. After a short preparation period in the Netherlands, you’ll take full control of the site—managing progress, staff, safety, and quality until successful completion.
Your responsibilities include:
- Take end‑to‑end responsibility on the client’s site for the mechanical assembly and completion of large industrial installations.
- Start each assignment with a short preparation phase in the Netherlands, and then take full control of execution, progress, quality and safety at the client’s location.
- Lead a mixed on‑site team consisting of welders and locally hired personnel, giving clear direction and ensuring smooth cooperation.
- Act as the day‑to‑day point of contact for the client’s site management, aligning on planning, interfaces and expectations.
- Work closely with the Project Department Manager and site coordinators on project planning, staffing, equipment and quality resources.
- Monitor project budget and schedule on site and make sure available people and equipment are used efficiently.
- Acting as the main point of contact for the client and liaising with the project management team.
- Ensuring smooth and safe operations on every project site.
Each project typically lasts about 8 weeks abroad, followed by 3 weeks of leave before the next assignment.
WHAT DO YOU BRING?
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Engineering.
- International project experience, in a heavy industrial environment.
- Willingness and ability to work long days during project phases and to perform under time pressure when needed.
- A pragmatic, hands‑on leadership style: you are visible on site, solution‑oriented and clear in your instructions.
- Strong drive to work abroad for extended periods per project and to operate in different cultures.
- A robust personality; you enjoy challenges and take ownership of your team and your site.
- Proficiency in English, spoken and written. Dutch is highly preferred.
- Confident leadership and excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to spend extended periods abroad.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
- A responsible and highly independent role where you are the key figure on site between client, your team and headquarters.
- After each on‑site project of roughly two months, you have several weeks off, giving you substantial recovery and personal time.
- A stable position within a financially strong, internationally active company with multiple decades of experience in complex steel constructions.
