We're looking for a Regional Counsel (Employment Lawyer) to join our team in Malaga or Madrid, Spain in a hybrid working mode. In this role, you will provide day-to-day and strategic employment law advice for EPAM’s operations in Spain, Portugal, Greece, Malta and Cyprus, as well as support other EMEA/APAC locations when required. You will work closely with HR leadership, legal peers and business leaders across multiple jurisdictions, advising on employment law compliance, employee relations and contracts, and providing legal support for transactions, data privacy and policy development.

Responsibilities

Provide employment and labor law advice across Spain and additional EMEA jurisdictions (Portugal, Greece, Malta, Cyprus)
- Advise on recruitment processes, employment contracts, consultation and disciplinary procedures, performance management and terminations
- Interpret and apply local labor laws, collective agreements and statutory requirements
- Draft, review and maintain employment-related templates, policies, handbooks and compliance documentation
- Support and manage employee relations issues, pre-dispute resolutions and employment litigation
- Advise on employment aspects of M&A transactions, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration
- Partner with HR and internal stakeholders on internal investigations and compliance matters
- Advise on GDPR obligations and local data privacy laws impacting employment processes
- Apply for and manage personnel leasing licenses and related compliance requirements
- Support commercial negotiations, including people-related clauses in customer or vendor contracts
- Liaise with and manage external counsel as required for local legal matters
- Develop and deliver training on employment policies, compliance and privacy for HR and management teams
Requirements

Qualified lawyer in Spain with significant employment and labor law expertise (typically 6+ years’ PQE; other levels considered if skills are equivalent)
- Previous in-house legal experience required, ideally within IT or professional services sector
- Strong knowledge of Spanish employment law and practical experience managing ER issues and compliance matters
- Familiarity with GDPR and global data privacy regulations impacting HR and employment processes
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills in English and Spanish
- Strong ability to partner with HR and business leaders across multiple jurisdictions
- Highly organized, proactive and able to manage complex issues in a fast-paced environment
- Professional and collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills
