At Bespoke Pixel, we’re all about creating something extraordinary. We’re a small, fully funded, independent studio working on a well-known IP, and we’re pushing boundaries when it comes to gameplay and quality.
Our experienced team is a blend of creativity and technical brilliance—and now, we’re looking for a Tools Programmer to join our studio and empower our developers to build a masterpiece.
In this role, you won’t just be writing code; you will be the architect of our development pipeline. Your goal is to build, optimize, and maintain the software, pipelines, and standalone applications that allow our designers, artists, and engineers to iterate rapidly and frictionlessly.
This is a dynamic role that will vary day-to-day, involving:
Pipeline Optimization: Take ownership of the content pipeline and asset conditioning workflows within Unreal Engine 5, ensuring seamless data flow from DCC tools to the engine.
Custom Tool Development: Design, create, and maintain robust standalone tools and editor extensions that simplify complex workflows for disparate disciplines.
Collaborative Iteration: Work closely with artists, designers, and engineers to identify workflow bottlenecks, gather feedback, and proactively engineer elegant UI/UX solutions for internal tools.
Code Quality & Stability: Write clean, modular, and highly maintainable C++ and C# code, keeping performance constraints and scalability across the software stack in mind.
Support & Documentation: Act as a subject matter expert for the studio’s toolsets, diagnosing workflow issues, fixing bugs, and educating team members on pipeline best practices.
Since we are a small team in the startup phase, we expect you to wear multiple hats, handle some ambiguity, and bring a proactive problem-solving mindset to the table. Your profile looks something like this:
Experience: 2+ years of professional experience as a Tools Programmer or Tools Engineer in the games industry.
Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in C++ and/or C#, with a solid understanding of software architecture, UI frameworks (such as WPF, Qt, or Slate), and modular workflows.
Engine Knowledge: Deep technical familiarity with Unreal Engine 5 pipeline mechanics and editor customization is highly preferred.
Cross-Discipline Empathy: Strong communication skills and the ability to relate to, empathize with, and aid non-technical disciplines in solving production bottlenecks.
The "Hacker" Mindset: A passion for deconstructing complex systems, automation, and finding creative ways to make development workflows faster and more reliable.
This isn't a role where you’ll be a cog in a machine. This is an opportunity to be a key decision-maker in a small, tight-knit team where your impact on the daily velocity of the project is visible and valued every day.
We offer a fair, healthy, and sustainable workplace where you can look forward to:
Competitive Salary: Commensurate with your expertise and the market.
Work-Life Balance: 5 weeks of paid vacation annually and flexible work hours.
Comprehensive Benefits: Free private health insurance, a monthly stipend for meals and transportation, and flexible remuneration.
Professional Growth: A yearly allowance to use for books, courses, or conferences for personal and professional development.
Barcelona Life: A beautiful office in central Barcelona featuring a rooftop terrace with city views and a vibrant community. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
Team & Culture: Regular team events, after-work hangouts, and a supportive environment of talented people who love what they do.
Please note: At Bespoke Pixel we work on-site in Barcelona, currently 5 days a week. Therefore, living in Barcelona or being willing to relocate is a must.
Apply in English with your CV and a cover letter. For most of our roles, we accept applications continuously, and we encourage you to apply sooner rather than later.
Bespoke Pixel is an equal-opportunity employer. Everyone’s welcome.
